Chapter Ten~5

Later.

In the magnificent palace of the divines, the undefined room filled with hundreds of divines sitting sharply on white tiers of seats. Whispering loudly at the view before them, three of their leaders sitting in the middle.

Gabriela summoned everyone to gather in the palace to announce a weighty decision. Such gatherings never happen with their troops. She stood up, gaining a respectful head bow and silence from the divine troops. She closed her hands together, clearing her throat before she began talking.

"Greetings divines, I asked you all to join the council of the divines to witness a major change in our world." The three leaders looked at each other, but none of them understood what was happening. It was the first time for their troops to join the council meetings or for Gabriela to take any decision before informing them first.

"You all know, we are creatures of order. We protect destinies and deliver them. Unfortunately, one divine betrayed our oath and trust... he committed treason that cannot be forgiven." The divine's troop whispers got loud again.

Gabriela opened her palms and golden light came out of it; the light rested in the middle between the council tables revealing Harut. He looked surprised to be summoned in such a way and in front of everyone. He was in human form and clothes. After he looked around, he quickly shifted back to his original form and cloth.

"We are all here to witness the trial of Harut, a fellow leader who broke our sacred rule and oath."

"Why did you summon me like that?"

"At the beginning of our creation, we found ourselves tied to infinite destiny; to protect both worlds, to serve humans and to help them if needed and to never invade their destinies."

Harut smirked. He knew Gabriela would know what was happening in the human world. She knew he was right to question it.

He knew she believed it was time for a change, his smirked widened and said, "Yes, since our creation we never questioned, we never stopped and thought for a moment. What if we were wrong? What if it was supposed to be ours and not theirs?"

Gabriela frowned. She felt it too the moment she saw the vision, but how would she break the one rule that defines their nature? Harut looked at each divine sitting and began explaining his opinion.

"Why do we obey? Why can't we have the free will to choose? Such great destinies are for them and not us. Aren't we good? Aren't we the literal definition of pureness and greatness? Why can't we have this mighty power to ourselves? Those creatures are a joke. They don't have our knowledge, they don't have our pure nature, they will—"

"Enough," Gabriela said along with a sharp knock on the glass table in front of her. "We are not here to discuss what you have done or think. We are here to witness your retribution," Gabriela said harshly.

"I have done nothing wrong to be here!" Harut shouted angrily — he removed his hood revealing his black hair and strong dominant features, it filled with a grudge and seemed somehow foreign to their undeniable angelic beauty — "Blindfolded, we deserve more than this dull world."

"Enough Harut! This is not a game! You crossed your limits! You cannot proceed with your accusations."

"It is not accusations! It is the truth! Gabriela, those creatures don't deserve their world. They will destroy it and turn it into ashes! We are more powerful than them, we are luminous, we are divines; we deserve that world, not those weak creatures!"

"Who do you think you are to question who deserves what?!" — Gabriela hit both of her hands sharply on the glass table in front of her again — "Even if we are powerful, it is not in our nature to question, it is not our role to control destiny."

"Those creatures are capable of hatred and destruction. They are not pure. Aren't you questioning why those weak creatures get it and not us?"

"What are you talking about?" Meika asked suddenly. He looked at Gabriela and saw how she warned Harut from talking further.

Harut's furious attitude didn't stop him from trying to tell the rest what put him into this nerve-wracking trial yet before he could spell another word. He stepped closer to Gabriela's table looked deeply into her fierce eyes, and said, "Admit it, you know I am right, you know how it will end."

Her eyes widened with shock and denial. "ENOUGH." Gabriela stood up and peered furiously at Harut. In the blink of an eye, he kneeled in front of them with metal chains trapping both his hands roughly behind his back and another wide chain covering his mouth and chin.

"Lock him," she said one divine sitting behind her and then walked away, and her body slowly disappeared into thin air. As the rest of the divines watched her go, one of them glimpsed Harut looking amused rather than scared.

"You heard your order! Move fast," the divine said nervously after seeing Harut's eyes. Anki told the rest to go back to their places till Gabriela got back. Everyone followed the order while whispering to each other.
