She kept her gaze fixed on Eleni, who appeared stern and firm. An old myth among all creatures is that Cupids are weak, and most of them believe that their true nature is what humans believe they are.
Angel-like creatures whose existence is based solely on true love and making people fall madly in love with one another. It was correct, but only for one troop of cupids; the other two are far more powerful and dangerous. Especially the one where Eleni comes from.
They are the descendants of warriors and powerful cupids. They gain powers that elevate and empower them in their realm. They chose to show only their joyous and pure side. When it comes to saving and protecting their realm, however, their true warrior souls reappear and take control.
Rosalia knew Eleni was such a powerful Cupid that she would never dare to offend her. "I apologies as well; I will not use my power again. I guess curiosity killed the cat."
Eleni nodded and suggested they get started before time ran out. She walked over to Liam, running her hands through her golden hair. He was about to stand when she stopped him, saying, "No need, I just want you to relax, close your eyes, and think of her face." He looked her in the eyes, pleading. "I'm sorry, but it's going to be a little more painful this time."
She spoke to him once more as he rested his head back. He looked at her again and said, "Please be quick."
When the girls met Liam earlier, he was aware of their arrival because his headquarters had received an official letter from the Rengo regarding their meeting.
It was an odd move from their end; both headquarters rarely interacted, and their names also sparked debate.
When the girls arrived, they all looked at each other, then at the massive building across the street. A small sign at the street's head listed both the street name and the building name, Gangnam Finance Center. Eleni cringed as she read the name and argued that the name of that building from their reality is more unique.
The main entrance featured two large black revolving doors on either side of the building, separated by a glass wall. Humans see the glass wall reflecting the gleaming interior of the elegant skyscraper.
The modern interior is dark navy and silver, reflecting the neighborhood's luxury and prestige. People passed by the girls without looking at them; there was no need to draw attention to them.
A slim dark burgundy suit-clad man in his mid-thirties approached them, smiling. He bowed slightly to them, and they reciprocated. He introduced himself as Hyun, the head of security. He informed them that the CEO was expecting them.
As he moved to guide them, a third revolving door appeared in the center, this one golden and engraved with thousands of incantations in Hangul.
As they entered, escape whispered voices echoed in the air, calling their name in a thick ancient voice. The girls tensed as the voice continued to tell them that they were welcome, but not for long.
Eleni joked that Silla had never liked them in any reality, and the voice echoed again, this time louder, saying, Long history cannot be denied. When the voice echoed loudly, Hyun tensed. The building was packed with employees dressed in various shades of navy and gray suits. When the girls finally entered the tower, they all shared the same worried expression.
They were standing in the lobby across a large rectangle glass table and multiple front desk staff, all dressed neatly in light blue blazers, women with silky hair laying neatly on their backs and men with clean shaved beards and sleek black short hair.
All eyes were on them, almost creeping into their souls, Theia felt. Hyun sensed the tension, he clapped his hands, and they turned away from the girls and returned to their work. As they walked to the elevator, they were followed by small whispers in Korean.
One of them was cursing them in heavy Korean slang, which Eleni overheard. She came to a halt and looked at him. She took a few steps toward the man, who seemed surprised. "What did you say?" the man's panicked eyes pleaded Hyun, who shared the same look. She kept asking him in clear Korean with no trace of an accent.
Hyun apologized and cleared his throat. Eleni looked at the trembling man and Hyun, who appeared nervous as well. He told the man to return to his work and told the girls that the Cupids had a terrible history with Silla in this reality and that no one meant any insult directly to them. Eleni exchanged a glance with the girls, but no one said anything further.
After a few moments, they arrived on the thirty-first floor, where the elevator door opened to reveal the massive meeting room, into which they stepped. As they walked inside, the tension and side conversation began quickly. Rosalia was the first person to approach the CEO, who stood up and shook her hand. She gave him a friendly smile in return.
"I must say, I never expected to meet a Cupid here. Let alone from a different reality." Ironically, the CEO stated.
"We always have some tension with Silla," Rosalia said lightly, "but apparently Cupids from this reality had a big one with your realm." She could see his tense but composed face nod in agreement.
"Speaking of tension, please explain the reason for this meeting." Rosalia sat across from him on a chair, beside her sat Theia, and on the other side sat Eleni and Hyun.
