The sacrifice

Intense heat licked at my skin as we walked down the dark tunnel towards the lava river. I could feel the sweat trickling down my brow as we got to the end of the tunnel and saw the long stretch of Lava.

"This is the lava river." Greef Karga pointed

Bright red fire spat out as the lava flowed down the creek. It made me feel uneasy by just how hot it was, but we didn't have any other choice.

Pushed up against the wall was a large boat that was built to survive in the heat of the lava. At the back of the boat was a droid that looked very singed.

"The ferry droid is fried." Mando stated

"I'm not surprised." I muttered

"Yeah, but if we push the boat out, we can get it to float down stream." Greef Karga said.

"Come on." Greef Karga tried to encourage the others as he lent down and placed his hands on the side of the boat.

"Looks old. Will it take the heat?" Mando asked

"You got a better idea?" Greef Karga asked him

"Guess not." Mando said as he joined Greef Karga in pushing the boat. But it didn't budge. Not even an inch.

"Push!" Greef Karga yelled

Mando let go of the boat and kicked it hard in frustration.

"Come on! What're you doing?" Greef Karga asked him as He walked away from the boat.

Mando bent down and picked up a long spear. "Let's try this." He wedged it between the boat and the wall and tried to use it as leverage.

"Push!" Greef Karga yelled again. But the boat still wouldn't move.

"You guys mind getting out of the way?" Cara said as she swung her blaster over her shoulder and held it in her left hand.

"Oh." Greef Karga Said as He and Mando rushed out of the way.

I shielded my face with my hand as Cara rapidly fired blaster bolts along the edge of the boat, causing it to finally come loose and float away from the wall.

"Good job." Mando said to her

I then stepped forward with the rest of the group and took hold of the edge of the boat. I gripped it hard as I pushed my leg over the side and climbed in, I really didn't want to fall into the lava.

"Watch your feet. It's molten lava." IG warned them. I smirked lightly at his obvious statement.

"No kidding." Cara said

The group stood together on the boat with molten lava running just under our feet. This day just kept getting worse.

An electrical whirring sound caught my attention and I turned around to find the source of the noise. I pulled my blaster out as a precaution but quickly relaxed when I realised that it was the droid. Apparently it wasn't as fried as we thought it was.

The rock crumbled around it as it began to rise upwards. The droid stood on two long legs and held a long metal pole in its grasp. I had never seen an astromech with arms and legs like that before.

After it dramatically rose from the ashes, it cheerfully beeped at them.

"I don't suppose anybody here speaks droid?" Mando questioned

"I believe he is asking where we would like to go." IG said

"Down river. To the lava flat." Greef Karga stated

The droid cheerfully chirped at them and began to stick the metal paddle into the lava, pushing them down river with a bit more speed than before. The droid began to sing as they went down river, it was chirping in rhythm. Unbearable heat and a singing droid. This was going to be a long boat ride.
