Shota looked at them all with confusion etched on his face. Despite it being false, the teachers fell for the illusions as they did for many others. Shota gave a look of focus and he rose his brows in realization. He let out a soft chuckle before putting his palm to his forehead.
"Oh! Let me explain." He said in a humorous tone." Something happened on my 5th birthday. I got pranked at the party and was so upset I told my parents I never wanted a party again. They did just that. They still got me small gifts and my siblings convinced us to celebrate my 16th and 18th birthdays."
His subtle humor in the affair was fake but convincing as it seemed more genuine than at any other time. They all understood and the tense atmosphere dissipated as if it had never been there. They were right. They were very right about whatever they suspected. But Shota Aizawa was a good liar.
His parents stopped celebrating his birthday on their account, not his. His siblings are the ones who convinced him to do something special on those two birthdays but otherwise, there is nothing but lies in his words. He hates it. But he does it anyhow.
"I'm sure no one here has the guts to try and prank you! Come on, have a little fun." Mic encouraged.
"What was that supposed to mean?" Shota asked with a more genuine confusion.
"We all know they're too scared to try and ruin everything." Midnight answered.
Various nods and sounds of agreement were heard and seen as Shota frowned.
"I'm not that scary." He said in his usual deep, matter-of-a-fact tone.
Hizashi hummed softly in response. Before putting a finger to his chin. He mocked the look of deep thought Aizawa had given earlier.
"If only there was someone with a higher expulsion rate then I'd believe you."
"I don't lie to kids. That's not being mean it's being real."
"Whatever floats your boat Sho," Hizashi said but still disagreed with Shota's statement.
Shota rolled his eyes as 'Zashi continued to give out suggestions. The others tried to help in convincing him every time Shota shook his head. Even though he didn't like being pressured he didn't mind watching Hizashi rant about all his ideas. But unlike Shota, Hizashi did get tired of the ranting.
"Ah, come on Sho! There's gotta be something you like!" He exclaimed in slight frustration. His anger came out like a childish pout which almost cured Shota's depression.
"Zashi, I don't think anyone's gonna convince me." He said softly. He always spoke in a lighter tone when addressing his friend. "I'm sure even if you called my sister here to try and get me to have a party it won't work. I just don't see the point in going backward while I'm moving forwards in life."
Hizashi frowned profoundly and his eyes suddenly glossed up. He was giving Shota pleading puppy eyes. At this point, the blond man must be toying with him as he felt all his sadness return as he had rejected him.
"Sorry, Zashi. Besides I have an 8-hour patrol remember."
"There are 24 hours in a day!" Mic said stubbornly.
"I have to take care of Eri and shop for the students. Not to mention I have to clean my apartment." He said.
"But we can all hang out with Eri."
"You know how she is. She can't hang around many people. Especially considering she's not fully used to some of you."
Hizahis pouted again and Shota felt his heartache. Why did this man have such control over him?
