"Uhm- I can't leave yet..." Shota admitted. The stars were back but he knew they wouldn't last.
"Why not?" Masaru asks as his wife and son stand a bit behind them.
The staff had decided it'd be best to keep Midoriya in for another day or two. He's got a bunch of scrapes. Some on his forehead, arms, and chest. There was a rather deep one in his leg and Shota almost shrugged it off. Until he remembered that he was looking at a teenager, not himself.
And that teen didn't have a regeneration quirk.
It'll scar. Sadly. Some of the others might too but they'll be thinner. The one on his leg, however, will be... visible to say the least.
"I- uhm- have to speak with someone here... My doctor..." He trailed off. It was embarrassing, probably more so than it should have been.
"Are you sure you're alright?"
He nods to the older man's words.
"Okay but how will you get back?"
"I have a friend on the way. I'll also see if I can get Izuku discharged by then."
Masaru's brows furrowed. "Is that safe?"
"Yes, I know people here with healing quirks. The repercussions are just tricky to work through and they also don't want to risk death from quirk overuse."
Masaru nodded. "See you another time then?"
"Yeah... see ya..."
Masaru and his family left as Shota walked back in and straight to the room that'd been awaiting him. Kenji wouldn't be here for another 2 hours. So they had time.
Healing Izuku in four bouts after each thirty minutes would give a favorable outcome and he'd easily gotten the Doctor in on that plan.
So now, here he sat, bare-chested and in his underwear while being scolded. Honestly, it sounds just like something he'd say and that only annoys Shota further. He's not mad, simply annoyed.
And on his self-care no less.
"Just because 38- 45% of your skin is scar tissue doesn't mean you shouldn't try to prevent that number from increasing. And just because you have a regeneration quirk doesn't mean you can battle a fucking Nomu."
As much as he hated it. Koa was right.
Shota took in a deep breath. "The kids... I get that but y'know what they used to say. Women and children first."
He simply received a raised brow and he lowered his head.
"The children are our future. With the symbol fallen, we need them now more than ever."
Koa sighs. "Shota. If you died, then who would protect them?"
"If they died who would I have protected?" He asks in a retort, soft and gentle despite how heavy they felt. "I- I didn't have a choice..."
"I know. But you should have come here. I understand that the medics' first thought wouldn't be to transport you to another city about 45 minutes to an hour away, but it'd have been better. We could have let you use your quirk and they would have healed fully."
"I know..." His words are whispered and almost lost in the air. He then yawns, eyes heavy.
They'd already run through the basics and now it was down to more serious matters.
"You're losing weight again," Koa stated.
Shota nodded, tired. "M'yeah..."
A soft sigh escapes the doctor. "I'll see if I can find a way to make this easier for you. But please, at least try the diets I'm recommending."
