Chap summary: Balancing work is hard, his quirk suppressants running out threatens to make it harder for Shota. Hopefully he can get a refill before it all goes south.
A/N: I don't really have any fav quirks for Shota.
Meanwhile: Elements and Ethereal's analysis being so long I have to shorten them.
"Sensei—" Izuku pants. "If you make me do that move one more time I will pass out."
"Ok," Shota says with a light shrug before turning to Denki who's 2 volts away from short-circuiting. "And didn't I tell you to not take it too far?"
"But everyone's pushing their quirk's limits! Why can't I do so too?" The kid grumbles, crossing his arms as he babbles through the sentence.
Shota walks over, gently placing a hand on the boy's head. "Because your quirk hurts you. I understand it may make you feel inferior to be incapable of advancing with the same strategies they use so until I can find someone better suited to aid you with your quirk, I'm going to need you to try to make use of what you can do."
Denki nods slowly, wiping at his eyes in a way Shota knows is to avoid tears. He ruffles the boy's hair into a mess, getting squealed complaints. "Besides, Izuku's reached his limits so he stepped out."
"Hypocrite," Miyan says and doesn't bother to hide it as she sits on one of the benches.
Shota simply sends her a raised middle finger and Shoto seems to be looking for the source of the female voice (likely just now realizing that Hitoshi wasn't wearing his persona cords), leaving Katsuki with an opening to use a bomb that sends him practically flying.
"Are you just gonna pull the same sports festival bullshit!" Katsuki yells.
"That's my cat," Shota explains as he helps the boy up. "She has a quirk and can speak."
Suddenly Shota stills. His head snaps to the door as if looking for something then he turns to Miyan. "Run."
And with that, the cat bolts out of sight.
The gym door opens right at that moment, all eyes on the ones entering. Rei walks in, hand-in-hand with Eri as Fuyumi and Ectoplasm walk alongside them.
Shota bows to Ectoplasm, thanking him before telling the kids to get back at it.
Shota gets on one knee and opens his arms for Eri to run in to hug him.
"Hello," He greets the little girl in his arms as he rises from the floor with her in his arms. "What a pretty dress. Did you go shopping with Rei?"
"Yes!" The girl nodded eagerly. "She got me so many pretty new dresses."
Something in Rei's expression darkens slightly at those words and Shota knows exactly what lies behind that face.
"That's lovely, and I take it you've met Fuyumi?"
"Yeah! She taught me a few things in English." The girl cheers with evident excitement.
Shota smiles fondly. "Like what."
"Good morning and how are you today."
Shota displays his approval, not a single word on how badly she butchered the language. "I also learned the alphabet!"
He listens to her reciting it, subduing his laughter and suppressing it with his smile. Once she's done, he claps his hands. "Wonderful."
She basks and practically glows at the praise, and Shota feels slightly bad for his earlier urge to laugh but instead of dwelling on it, he asks Fuyumi and Ectoplasm to bring her to Mirio while he and Rei talk.
