Karls alarm went off. He hopped out of bed and got dressed in some simple sweats. He was 19 and already had so many responsibilities. You see Karl figured out his was gay when he was 12, but he didn't tell his parents until he was 16. His parents were never supportive of anything he did, but as soon as Karl told them they became abusive. At the time he couldn't legally move out so he waited when he had enough money and his age. But he didn't want to leave his, now 5 years old, sister to be with their  abusive ways. So he tried everything to keep his sister legally. After a family court system, and the state court to get his parents in jail he got full custody of her. He skipped collage and everything just to make sure to take care of her, you can always go to college later right? He always thought. Karl loved his sister and wished he could communicate with her more, because she is completely mute. His sister couldn't talk at all because a Mutism happened due to apraxia, that is, problems with coordination of muscles involved in speech. His parents never went through the trouble to try to help her communicate in different way other than talking, part of a reason they were abusive. They realized that his sister, Millie, wasn't talking as fast as the other kids. So last year Karl learned ASL then taught it to his sister, who was 4 at the time. After a year and a half they were both fluent.

So now he woke up at about 7 am to take his sister to school. He lived in a small 3 bedroom apartment and headed to her room. He walked in and shook her awake,"It's time for school." He signed and said. She nodded and got up to use the bathroom, while Karl picked her outfit out. He picked out bunny overalls and a pink shirt. She came back,"Did you brush your teeth?" He signed. Yes he knew he could just talk, but he promised if she had to learn sign language and use it, so did he. She nodded,"You sure?"  He asked because he could still see her dinner from last night."Alright lets make sure." he said. She rolled her eyes. He helped her put her outfit on and we brushed her teeth. He then walked downstairs and he made her some eggos, because he was still working on how to cook. He put her shoes on, then headed outside with her holding  hands. He buckled her in her seatbelt and  headed to her school. He dropped her off with a kiss on the forehead and he signed, goodbye.

After he dropped her off he got in the car and sighed. Karl was basically a single parent at 19 and he loved it mostly, but sometimes it was a little exhausting. He had to do some chores so he went to the grocery store, then he had to go to a doctors appointment. He was never really this tired because he did errands pretty often.  He then went to the park and sat down on a bench just enjoying the air.People say that men get a different perspective in the world once they have a daughter, and Karl felt like he felt like he did. He always checked his surroundings before he went out with her, he would read kidnapping rates, he would even watch family blogs to figure out how other people raised their kids. Lost in his thoughts he didn't hear someone talking to him,"So can I?" This man with brown hair and pretty blue eyes said. "Oh I'm sorry what did you ask?" Karl said blushing because of how handsome this man was."I asked you if I could sit here?" The man said."Oh yeah sure." Karl said. He sat down, "It looked like you needed someone to talk to, you good?" This man asked Karl.Karl smiled and thought, how can this man care about me more than anyone else he knew? He already liked him, but he couldn't like him. He didn't know if he liked guys, and besides he needs to take care of Millie. "Oh yeah I'm fine I just needed to run errands and this time it was kind of exhausting, I guess? " He said laughing. "Man how do you have money in college to run errands?" The man asked joking. "Oh I'm not in college. I don't have time. I work at home though from 8 am- 1 pm." Karl said. "So you work at home for only 6 hours and you don't have time?" The man asked. "Sorry, I didn't mean to be rude, uh here I'm Nick or you could call me Sapnap its my nickname." He said holding his hand out for Karl to shake it."Oh well I'm Karl. Oh and I only work 6 hours at home because I have to pick up Millie." Karl said. "Oh you have a kid? You look so young." He said. "Well first I am only 19 and second Millie isn't my kid. I mean she is but isn't. She is my sister and I got full custody a year ago." I said. "Woah so you got a kid at 18? You got a girlfriend or anyone to help you take care of her?" Sapnap asked. "Well not really we are from a different city and even if I  didn't move we had no one come out and reach out to me after about 3 months of having her. So I'm left on my own, and two I don't like girls, like romantically, so I don't have a girl figure. Its just me and her." Karl explained. Sapnap looked at him in awe. Sapnap saw this as an opportunity to get to know him. Sapnap was bi and to be honest he only sat next to Karl because he thought he wa cute.Sapnap put his hand on Karls knee and Karl looked up, "I'm sorry that happened. Here if you need someone to talk to call me." Sapnap said as he pulled out his phone. They exchanged numbers and they continued to talk for a little more. Karl had his phone in his hand when a alarm went off it was his 2:15 alarm to go pick up Millie. "I would love to talk but I have to pick Millie up from school." Karl said standing up. "hey I know I just met you but can you give me a ride to my apartment its on number 23 in Bakersville Apartments" Sapnap said standing up. "Oh my gosh we live at the same complex number 30. We are just a floor up." Karl said. "Sure I will give you a ride, Its dinner time anyways, how about you stay for dinner? As a thank you for checking up on a stranger." Karl laughed while heading to his car." Thank you I would love to have dinner"
