"Okay I know I said I wouldn't be able to have normal pasta ever again since we came home but that was actually so good, kinda different but good." I told Billie as we walked out of honey bees.

"How is it different ? It's pasta babe." She asks carrying a pack of some pastries we were talking home as soon as we met up with Ali.

"I don't know, the pasta here is more like...creamy? But not in a good way." I laughed trying to explain the difference.

"I honestly can't taste the difference." She says we walked up Alison's driveway.

"Okay says the one whose diet only consists of beans and tortillas." I ring the doorbell.

"Why hasn't she been answering the phone all day?" I ask before the door opens and her sister appears.

"Hey Billie hey Maddy!" Sadie says inviting us in.

"Hey have you seen Ali she hasn't been answering like all day?" I ask her.

The court hearing was tomorrow morning and we were all shitting ourselves wondering what would happen. I was trying to mentally prepare myself for being found guilty, because if anyone was going down it would be me.

The three of us decided to all have a sleepover tonight in my room since it might be our last. I didn't even want to imagine life without Billie so I pushed the thought of what would happen tomorrow at the trail into the depths of my mind, far away from reality.

"Wait, she just left like five minutes ago to your house." She said " She told me she left her phone at our uncle's place, you know the one up north?" She tells us.

"Oh shit, okay we will see her at my house then thanks Sadie. Oh! How was the project by the way?" I remembered Ali left early the other day to help her sis with a really big project for one of her classes.

"Project?" Her eyebrows tilt up, confused by my question.

"Yeah Ali said she had to help you with it a few days ago or something?" I asked.

"Oh I don't know, I've actually been off all week because I had appointments." She told us before we said goodbyes and made our way down to my house.

"Bil have you noticed Ali lying a lot lately?" I ask her.

"No, what do you mean? About what?" She was confused about what I was getting at.

"I don't know just recently, I mean she lied about having to help Sadie with homework. She lied when I asked her how much alcohol she had the other night and......"I stopped talking, realizing maybe I shouldn't bring it up.

"And? What?" She stops walking, forcing me to stop along with her. I turned to here not knowing how to explain this.

"Bil last week at the cabin I heard one of the guys tell your mom the fire started from a curling iron and it was Alis. I noticed the pink handle but none of us curled our hair that night." I tell her not knowing what to think of why Ali would plug it in if she wasn't using it.

"She was probably going to and then decided not to. Why ? Do you want me to blame it on her?-"

"No! That's not what I meant. I just have a weird feeling that she's lying to us about something."

"Maddy, look at me." She grabs my shoulders and faces me towards her. "I know you're scared for tomorrow okay? I am too, we all are terrified. I think your brain is just making up more things to be nervous about." She tries calming my thoughts down.

"I don't know, I guess." My head lowers as I begin to walk again.

"Woah what? Why are you sad all of the sudden now?" She grabs my arm pulling me back, her rings slightly dig into my skin.
