'Tsszzz'

Sizzled the pot resting on the stove, the silent flame below flickering ever so often. "Yuck..." Glancing inside the pot, there lay the literal brown mush that was fed to the camp every day. Otherwise known as porridge.

Due to the War, delicious, flavorful meals were now nothing but memories from the past. Joining this camp, I swore to try my utmost best in providing these soldiers with a decent meal. But these ingredients were horrendous to say the least.

"Is it almost ready?" The Chef entered the kitchen "...the soldiers are almost done."

"Yes Chef." With a nod, I began to rummage through the wooden cabinets. My (f/c) paws grabbed the pile of bowls, now making my way into the dining hall. As if on schedule, the soldiers poured into the room, more than ready to eat after a rather long morning.

As I placed the bowls along the table, they all continued on with their usual conversations.

"What an amazing talk from Father, I liked when he said.."

"...yeah, my wife and I have another on the way.."

"I am obviously the best looking one here.."

"Hey, dollface." A certain voice called from further down the table. Ignoring the comment, I continued on with handing each soldier their bowl.

A figure then appeared beside me, "You deaf?".

Turning to face him, there proudly stood one of the soldiers. With a prideful grin, his eyes scanned me up and down as if I were mere prey to him. "I will give you your bowl in a second, take a seat." Now turning my attention back to the table, he took a step closer. "Why would I? When I just could admire you up close."

This guy was getting on my last nerve. "Maybe you need to go and listen to one of Father's talks again. Piss off." Venom laced my words.

"Heh, maybe I should. Seeing you gives me all types of unhol-" Suddenly the man was abruptly cut off. "Didn't she tell you to piss off?" Interfered someone nearby.

"No one was talking to you, stay out of this." The man sent him a glare.

The yellow fella turned to the man, "If you know what's best, you'll shut up and sit down".

Tension pierced the air. I parted my lips to speak "No no, that won't be necessarily. We can solve this without..." In an instant, a harsh grip held my wrist. The bowls fell onto the wooden floor boards below. Dozens of sets of eyes were on us now.
