We seemed to be running for hours. The soles of our feet hurt and begged for even a little relaxation. No, we had to keep moving forward.
Safety was never a guarantee, but the farther we got, the better our chances were.

In spite of the excruciating pain, Coco continued to move forward while holding his injured arm. He occasionally groaned through gritted teeth.

I turned to look at him every time he did so.

I was worried. The gash on his arm continued to ooze blood, and it trickled down his fur with each step he took.

"Coco..are you-", at this, Azulin tightened the hold on my wrist. His fingers dug within my (f/c) fur, arm beginning to shake, "Come on, further."

He was overcome by jealousy, which gnawed at his stone heart. He trembled with rage. Azulin knew how much Y/n cared for Coco, and this sent him over the edge.

My eyes narrowed at Azulin as he pulled me along. I knew what he was doing, "You need to calm down, he's wounded." A low growl rumbled deep within him, and he kept going.

By now, we seem to enter an unknown part of the forest. A thick layer of fog roamed the air. The trees are veiled by the mist, only standing out as mere silhouettes against a blanket of white. It was eerily silent.

Then Coco began to slow. From running to jogging, and now walking slowly. His breathing became heavy and shaky, "Wait!"

At this, Gordi and I came to a stop. Azulin tugged at my wrist, insisting on continuing, but I refused. His eyebrows furrowed and he gave Coco an icy, ruthless gaze.

Gordi rested both of his hands on his knees as he knelt down to regain his breath. Azulin now released the grip on my wrist, "We need to keep going." He knew that Coco was in no shape to continue on, and this seemed to please him.

My attention was drawn to Coco's blood loss. It dripped down his helmet and uniform, staining his fur in a scarlet shade.

"It hurts a lot." Coco leaned on a tree, his voice trembling with pain.

My heart broke at his words. Ideas raced through my head, but really I had little to no experience in the medical field. I was nothing more than a cook. After placing my backpack on the ground, I opened the zipper and rummaged through the mess inside. "Let me try to find something." Desperation was clear in my tone.

Then Azulin spoke, "Here, let me help you." His voice dripped with malice. A mocking grin pulled at the corners of his mouth. Then he approached his wounded comrade. A sense of dread filled the air with each step he took. As he got closer, his grin didn't fade, and dead twigs crackled under his boots.

Azulin felt a deep sense of fulfillment on seeing the "top" recruit reduced to nothing more than a bloodied, crying wreck. Now he was the best, and rightfully so.

Coco leaned back, his heart racing as Azulin closed the distance. He knew that he was in danger. The vicious intent in those ice-blue eyes was as plain as the sun on a summer's day.

Now Azulin stood inches away, his heart thumping rapidly as a wave of thrill filled him. He trembled with excitement. Reaching out, his fingers dug into the battered fabric of Coco's uniform.
