Warm sunlight poured between the tree branches, casting a golden glow on the forest floor. A ray of light fell on Gordi's closed lids, and he slipped away from his slumber.

"Ugh.." Pulses of pain ran through Gordi's bruised skin. His eyes fluttered open, taking in the lush, green hues of the forest. Just a few feet away, Y/n snoozed with her head comfortably resting on a tree trunk.

With a deep sigh, he mustered the strength to sit upright. In an instant, his mind raced with yesterday's events.

He finally stood up for himself after so many years. But it was bittersweet. A conversation from a long time ago came to mind.

'Promise me one thing. Take care of your brother. He needs you. You must love him and protect him. Promise me. Promise me, Gordi.'

Gordi reminisced on his mother's words. This was one of the last conversations they had before..

Now guilt swept over him. Years of constant ridicule and belittlement, and yet he couldn't deny the love he held for his brother. Of course, he didn't condone any of Azulin's actions. Jealousy, murder, and so much more. But Gordi truly had a big heart.

Despite everything that's happened, Gordi was more than willing to extend forgiveness to Azulin.

Then, his mind shifted to Y/n.

Feelings between her and Azulin were involved. Romantic ones. But Gordi knew that she wouldn't forgive Azulin as easily as he would.

Or at all, for that matter.

Y/n and Gordi continued to make their way through the dense forest.
They scanned their surroundings, knowing that danger lurked in every shadow. Yards behind walked Azulin, keeping his distance for the time being.

He still couldn't believe what happened yesterday; Gordi stood up to him. His body was adorned with bruises and scratches.

The physical pain wasn't the worst. No, it was his ego. Ever so often, a growl rumbled within his core. First, he had to deal with Coco, and now this?

Even so, he looked ahead, his gaze fixed solely on Y/n. Every glance he'd take was only adding fuel to the burning fire within him. He yearned to touch her (f/c) fur once more and to feel the warmth of her body interwine with his. Her lips, fingers, eyes, everything. He wanted this, and so much more.

After all, it was his right to have it, to have her.

Soon.

The miles stretched endlessly, but they pressed on, determined to reach the camp.

"I'm sure we'll find a way out of here soon." Y/n let out a big yawn. Her eyelids grew heavy, and her steps became sluggish. It was clear that she was fighting to stay awake.

"You didn't sleep well?" Gordi questioned with genuine worry in his tone.

Y/n shook her head. She turned to glance at Azulin for a moment before speaking to Gordi in a low whisper, "No, all thanks to your brother."
