I watched Ashton's beat up pick-up truck pull up to the curb closest to the bench I sat on and sighed in relief. It had been twenty minutes since I'd gotten off the phone with him and I wasn't liking the looks of the lady with the plastic bag around her neck who was making her way up the path towards me mumbling about a war she seemed to think was coming. A car door slammed and Ashton was out of the truck and walking towards me. I quickly got up and filled the distance between us, pulling him into a tight hug.

"Thank god" I muttered into his chest.

"It's good to see you too" Ashton chuckled, "now come on, let's get you to your new humble abode."

We both headed to his car and I hopped into the passenger seat while he got into the drivers seat and started the engine. After buckling up, we were off. Ashton weaved the car through traffic as it rattled and banged with all the sounds of a car that hadn't seen the mechanics- or a car wash for that matter- in years. I was excited because although I talked to Ashton every single day over the phone, I hadn't had a chance to meet his new roommate yet. I hoped whoever it was would be nice and agree to let me stay. I also hoped that Ashton wouldn't mind lending me some clothes for the time being because what I was currently wearing were the only ones I had. I internally cursed myself for not taking the time out to at least pack up a few of my possessions to take with me. Then again, I don't think Stacey would have let me....

"So, are you going to get out or would you rather live in my car?" Ashton stood outside the open passenger door, raising an eyebrow at me.

I hadn't even noticed the car stop.

Shaking myself out of my reverie, I replied, "uh, yeah, sorry about that..."

Hopping out of the car, I looked surprisedly up at the condo in front of me; I had been expecting another apartment. Ashton started towards the front door and I slammed the door shut before sauntering after him. I took a deep, shaky breath as he unlocked the door. Cautiously, I followed him through, only to find myself faced with two staircases, one that went down to a door with a sign that said, 'enter and you will be executed' and one that went up into the rest of the house. I could hear something that sounded a lot like a video game coming from upstairs and there were several voices but I couldn't tell which were real and which were part of the game. Ashton bounded up the stairs and I slowly followed. I found that the top of the stairs opened up into a living room in which sat four guys, staring intently at the TV. I wondered to myself which one of them was Ashton's roommate. I guess the fact that they had such a big place made sense now if they had this much company all the time. My eyes ran over the boys as Ashton stood there smirking, obviously waiting to see how long it took them to notice us. The guy closest to me had brown spiky hair and big muscles which he showed off nicely with his muscle shirt. The next guy had jet black, shaggy hair. He was well built but he was obviously shorter and skinnier than the rest. The third guy looked a lot like Ashton with his chocolate hair and rich, tan skin. It was the last guy who really caught my attention though. He had messy, dirty blond hair and he wore a fitted black v-neck shirt.

"Did you guys here the door a minute ago?" the guy with the muscle shirt asked, looking away from the game.

His eyes widened when he saw us.

"What's your problem?" another guy asked.

The other three turned around to see what muscle-shirt was staring at and froze.

"Hey guys" Ashton laughed, "this is Danny. She was wondering if she could stay here a while."

That's funny, I thought, shouldn't he just pull his roommate aside and ask him without bugging the rest of the guys here?

And that's when it hit me.

"Wait, Danny is a chick? Dude I thought you were.... well, a dude!" Ashton's look alike exclaimed.

I completely ignored him though and instead turned to Ashton, "you have four roommates?!"

Ashton gave me a sheepish look that he knew would make me immediately forgive him for not telling me, "well... yeah. Are you mad?"

I sighed, "damnit... only at the fact that I can't stay mad at you for longer than three seconds."

Ashton gave me a beaming grin, "great, in that case, let's move on! So, Danny can't really stay at home right now, so she's wondering if she can stay here and make this her new home.... what do you guys say?"

I turned my hopeful gaze to the four boys sitting in the living room. They had paused the game so the room now sat in a deafening silence.

"I say she stays" muscle-shirt grinned, "it definitely won't do us any harm if she does if you know what I mean."

I rolled my eyes but couldn't help the smile that crept onto my face.

"Agreed" look-alike said.

"Yeah!" the guy with shaggy dark hair chimed.

"Not that it matters, because I'm already out-voted, but I don't want her here" the blond said coldly.

I felt slightly taken aback. What did I ever do to him?

"Cole-" Ashton started.

"I'll be in my room" Cole brushed him off.

Then, he rushed downstairs towards the basement. So, he's the one with the 'enter and you will be executed' sign, I thought, well, that explains a lot...
