"Can I open my eyes yet" I heaved a sigh.
"No!" Keelie exclaimed, I'm not done yet!"
"Keelie, you've been working on my hair and make-up for almost two hours" I complained.
"Well so-o-orry that my incredible talents of making up two different people at once take a while" Keelie was definitely rolling her eyes. Even if I couldn't see it, I could feel it.
"Yeah, not to ruin your fun Keels, but people are going to start arriving soon" Caleb added.
"Fine, fine, you can both calm down... I'm done."
My eyes fluttered open feeling surprisingly light for the excessive amount of make-up Keelie had put on them.
Keelie grinned and held up a mirror, "voila."
I suppressed my gasp. Somehow, Keelie had used the make-up to highlight all of the best features in my face and cause my eyes to dance in an incredible and slightly mysterious mix of colour, while still making it look like I was barley wearing any. I looked up, first at Keelie, who looked absolutely gorgeous with her hair in ringlets and her complexion creamy, then to Caleb, who was looking at me sheepishly, a blush colouring his cheeks.
"You look beautiful... you both do" Caleb offered smiling shyly at me.
"Thanks" I grinned.
Keelie laughed and rolled her eyes, "come on folks, let's go to a party!"
"Uh Keels" I gave her an amused look, "you realize all we're doing is going upstairs right?"
"Yeah, but upstairs is ten times more exciting than down here, especially once everyone else arrives" Keelie squealed.
"If you say so" Caleb shook his head, grinning.
None the less, Caleb and I both got up and started after Keelie as she scurried up the stairs. As I left the room, I almost ran into Cole.
"You need anything else from in here?" he asked, motioning to our room.
"Uh, no" I furrowed my eyebrows, "I don't think so... why?"
"Cause I'm going to lock it for the party. I don't know about you, but I don't want anyone getting drunk and then coming down and getting nasty in my bed" Cole explained.
"Oh" I stated.
"It's okay Idiot, obviously I'm going to have to be the brains in this relationship" Cole gave me a fake sympathetic smile, locking the door.
"Leave her alone, Cole" Caleb snapped.
"Awe, you're boyfriend is cute when he's trying to be tough" Cole mocked, spitting out the word boyfriend as if it were poison.
"Get a life Smirk" I said coldly, "it's sad that you have nothing better to do than push other people around. Don't you have friends?"
Cole's jaw twitched and to my surprise it almost looked like he was trying to suppress a smile, "I apologise for being so mean to your precious Caleb, Little Idiot. I won't bother you anymore. Enjoy the party."
I held his gaze for a second longer before turning, taking Caleb's hand and started up the stairs.
"Oh and Danny" Cole's voice sounded devilish, "remember... you still owe me one."
I grinned, still not turning to face him, "yes, but remember Cole, you owed me two from the Coke and Advil, so technically, you still owe me one."
Then I continued up the stairs with Caleb, not giving him a chance to reply.
***
"Coke, Advil... did you deal him drugs or something?" Caleb asked.
We were now close together in the middle of the living room along with about forty other party goers. Everyone had come together in big groups and the small condo quickly filled up. The were still gangs of people streaming in with each passing minute though.
I rolled my eyes and shouted over the noise of the music and other kids, "no! Cole was hung over so I had to bring him some pop- Coke- and some Advil."
Caleb eyed me, giving me a teasing skeptical grin, "if you say so..."
I returned his grin, "but then again, you never know. I could be very dangerous. You sure you can handle me?"
I think I was getting better at flirting. Admittedly, Caleb did make it easy though seeing as he also flirting so openly.
"A pretty girl like you?" he leaned in slightly, "I think I can handle that."
"I got us drinks!" a voice exclaimed.
I turned and smiled at Keelie, "uh thanks, but I don't really drink..."
Keelie laughed, "me neither, but I raided the fridge and found a couple of these."
Keelie held out three cans of Coke.
I felt my eyes widen, "we can't drink those!"
"What?" Keelie''s eyebrows furrowed, "why not?"
Because those are Cole's! a voice at the back of my head insisted. Why did I care so much though? It's not like he'd ever know it was us...
"Uh never mind... I thought those were the ones Ashton had been saving, but I just remembered he hid those before anyone got here..." I laughed awkwardly.
"Right" Keelie gave me a funny look before distributing the Coke and taking a seat on the other side Caleb.
"Man, watch it! My drink!" someone cried out loudly, breaking free from the pulsing crowd of party-goers.
I watched in horror as, almost in slow motion, the guy stumbled forward, his red Solo cup toppling from his hand and splashing a dark, foul smelling liquid all over Keelie, the couch, and the side of Caleb. Beer. Keelie jumped up, letting out a squeak.
"My dress!" Keelie complained, "god, this is going to leave a stain if I don't rinse it out!"
"Yeah, my mom is going to kill me when I come home with my shirt reeking of beer" Caleb groaned, "she doesn't even know I'm here..."
Keelie turned to me, "Danny, I'm super sorry but I have to go home and clean this! Oh and you can come to my house and change if you want Caleb I think I still have your overnight bag from our last sleepover."
"You guys have sleepovers?" I raised an eyebrow.
"Yeah" Caleb blushed, "but I always sleep on the floor while Keelie takes the bed."
"Oh" I laughed.
Caleb turned to Keelie, "anyways though, I think I'll take you up on your offer Keels... sorry Dan."
I sighed, "it's cool guys, I'll see you later."
Caleb and Keelie both gave me apologetic smiles as they scurried out. I ran a hand through my hair, looking around. Everyone around me was drunk, loud and annoying. I really didn't want to be here. Suddenly, I had a thought: if Cole had locked our bedroom, that would mean that I could get him to let me in, and then I could hide out in there for the rest of the night. With new determination, I set out on my new mission.
