Okay, okay, I get that you feel you've waited long enough for this based on the death threats, though I won't mention who from.... Storytime4me.... So, here you go, the second to last chapter :D And so it begins... and if you want, you can blame the wait on my awesmazetacular boyfriend who I was spending time with and therefore not updating...
"Danny" a voice whispered, "Danny, wake up."
My eyes fluttered open to find Cole leaning over me. Through the basement window I could see that it was still almost pitch black outside.
"What in the heck time is it?"I asked groggily.
Cole gave me a sheepish smile, "four thirty a.m."
I stared up at him for a second, "you're crazy."
"Maybe, but you're also about to have the best date ever. Trust me. Now, you'll probably want something warm for now but I would suggest wearing layers so you can take them off as the day heats up" Cole suggested.
Stretching I got out of bed and started looking for clothes, "how are you so awake?"
"Well, honestly, I used to have a lot of nightmares about Tessa but you know, ever since I told you about it, they seem to have stopped. I mean, it's only been two days so it's probably still a little early to assume that they're gone for good, but they have definitely reduced and faded. Maybe this means you're fixing me" Cole said quietly as I pulled out a sweater.
Turning to him I smiled, "or maybe you're just finally letting yourself heal. I'll be back in a second, I'm going to change and get ready."
Cole nodded at me, a small smile on his face. I entered the bathroom and quickly changed feeling butterflies start to erupt in my stomach. I grabbed my hair brush and ran it through my hair a few times before pulling my hair up into a ponytail. Then, I put on some mascara and even brushed some lip gloss across my lips. Once I was ready, I turned off the light and re-entered the bedroom. Cole was sitting on his bed tying up his shoes and looking all cute. The dye from the Kool-Aid had worn off of his skin almost immediately but his hair was still slightly pink. It almost looked as if there was a soft light reflecting off his hair.
"Ready to go?" Cole asked slowly.
I shook myself out of it and smiled at him, "yeah, let's go."
Cole sauntered up the stairs to the front door, swinging his car keys around his finger. We both headed outside and hopped into his car and soon enough we were off.
"So" I started, "where are we going?"
"Patience is a virtue Idiot, but if you really must know, we're going to get breakfast" Cole chuckled.
"Yes!" I cheered, "I love food..."
"Well, I hope you don't mind food to go. I was thinking of grabbing some stuff from Timmies cause it's on the way" Cole explained.
I grinned, "sounds like a plan to me."
"Great" Cole laughed, pulling into the drive through down the street.
Cole ordered us both breakfast sandwiches and a french vanilla coffee for me while he got himself a double-double. Passing the food and drinks to me, Cole pulled out of the parking lot.
"So now where are we going?" I urged, taking a bite of my sandwich.
"You really hate surprises don't you? You're no fun..." Cole pouted.
"Alright, fine... I guess I'll wait until we get there" I sighed.
"Don't worry, we're not going far" Cole grinned joyfully.
I looked out the window, trying to figure out all the possible places we could be going, but all I saw were large trees along either side of the road. I leaned forward in my seat to try and look at the tops of the trees. They were so tall. Cole pulled down a dirt road and into a grassy parking lot.
"Come on, you can leave the food in here for now, we don't want to miss it" Cole grinned, getting out of the car.
I got out after him, "miss what?"
Cole took my hand, "just come on!"
Together, Cole and I made our way up a small grassy hill with a wooden bench on top of it. The bench sat about a foot from a rather steep drop off the other side of the hill. Cole took a seat on the bench and after a second, I sat down beside him. Cole settled further onto the bench and sighed.
"Now, keep your eyes on the horizon" Cole glanced at me, "and I promise you won't be disappointed,"
For a long whole we sat in silence, just staring at the horizon and I was about to ask Cole what it was exactly we were supposed to be looking at when suddenly the sun peeked out. In a matter of moments, the sky lit up in a rainbow of colours. Light danced across the sky and I smiled in delight.
"This is amazing" I whispered.
Cole turned to me, the pinkish-reds and orange yellows of the sunrise illuminating his face and defining his features. His grin looked almost angelic.
"And this is only the beginning" he exclaimed, "want to go for a walk?"
I smiled at him, "sure."
Cole and I headed down the side of the hill that wasn't a twenty foot drop and onto a path that wound down and around a small pond.
"Growing up" Cole started as we made our way down the dirt path, "whenever I was sad or mad, I would come up to this park and watch the sunset. It wasn't until much later that I realized that if I got up early enough, I could watch the sun rise too. I never told anyone about my little safe haven, not even Tessa. I would just come and let the fading colour of the sun take away all my pains and doubts. I guess that's why I wanted to show it to you, to show you that I trust you. I admit at first, I think I only trusted you because you looked so much like Tessa, but now... Well, now I trust you because in the week that I've known you, you have not once judged me because of something I've told you or gone around and told everyone else what I told you. I know I can trust you."
I smiled at him as we neared the pond, "it's wird to think that I've only known you and the guys- other than Ashton- for a week, but mostly you though. So much has happened in seven days."
Cole chuckled, "yeah and at this time last Saturday, I hated you."
I pondered this for a moment while Cole rummaged for something in his pocket. He pulled out a small bag of bread crumbs and have me a dazzling grin.
"Hey, you want to feed the ducks?" he asked.
I rolled my eyes, but couldn't hold back my grin as I reached for some crumbs.
"So then, what do you think of me now?" I asked as I gave some crumbs to the closest duck.
"What do you mean?" Cole threw some crumbs of his own.
"Well, you said that this time last Saturday, you hated me and I'm wondering: What do you think of me now?"
