Surprisingly, neither dinner nor sleeping in the same room as Cole had been awkward last night, even after he'd asked me out. I'd gotten a ride to school with Ashton this morning and now as I stood in front of the door to Mrs.Greymarr's English room, the only thing I was nervous about was seeing Caleb again. What if it was super awkward?

Taking a deep breath, I pushed open the door and went inside. As always, Mrs. Greymarr had a warm smile on her face.

"Good morning Danny, I hope you're feeling better. I'm sorry you couldn't be here yesterday" she sang.

"Much" I smiled.

Then, I caught Caleb's eyes and started towards our desks.

"Hey" I tried saying casually.

Caleb offered me his dimpled grin and I felt my shoulders start to relax, "Hey Danny. Sorry for what happened the other night."

"It's fine Caleb, I don't hold it against you" I laughed.

"We're still friends though right?" he asked.

I gave him a grin of my own, "of course."

At lunch, I met up with everyone at our usual table, taking a seat beside Keelie.

"Hey girl" I grinned.

"Hey" Keelie replied cheerfully, "I heard about your date with Caleb. Sorry about that. Caleb knows how to flirt but boy do I need t teach him how to impress a girl on a date."

I laughed at this, "that kind of sounds like a book title."

Keelie cocked her head to the side, "how to flirt?"

"Well, yeah, that too" I said, "but I meant 'how to impress a girl'."

Now it was Keelie's turn to laugh, "you know, you're kind of right... maybe I should right a book..."

I grinned "maybe."

"Hey, so did you hear that Queen Stacey got herself a boyfriend? Some guy on the chess team. Apparently they're super cute together" Keelie gushed.

I shook my head, still grinning, "well how about that..."

"So... what are you doing this weekend?" Keelie asked after a moment of silence.

"Actually" I blushed, "I have a date."

"Wait" Ashton cried from across the table, startling both Keelie and I who hadn't known he'd been listening, "another one? Who's it with this time? Whoever it is didn't ask my permission!"

I rolled my eyes, "Ashton for the last time, guys don't need to ask your permission to date me."

"No Danny, he's right. Ashton is basically your brother, it's only right to ask him first... even if it doesn't matter to me whether or not he says yes" Cole smirked.

I gave another bush as Jock choked on his chocolate milk and Tyson and Brody both let out low 'ooh's'.

Cole turned and looked sincerely at Ashton, "Ashton, man, would you give me permission to take the beautiful Danielle Forster out on a date?"

Ashton seeme to be having an inner battle with himself. Finally, he looked to me an raised his eyebrows. I smiled and nodded my head slightly.

Ashton closed his eyes and sighed, "fine."

I grinned and Cole let out a small whoop causing everyone else at the table to laugh.

"Just remember though, if you hurt Dan-o, then we're going to have to break your face Cole" Tyson warned.

"And the rest of you for that matter" Jock added.

Cole nodded and gave a shaky laugh, "right."

I threw the dish towel onto the counter and sighed. I needed to come up with a dish duty schedule or something cause I should so not be making dinner and doing three hours of dishes every night. I walked over to the fridge and pulled out my one true love in life; the one thing that had always been there for me no matter what... milk. I poured myself a glass before returning it to the fridge and took a huge gulp. Ah milk. I was so distracted by its amazing goodness that when my cellphone ran, I almost missed it.

"Hello?" I answered, carefully setting down my glass.

"Hey Danny, I just called to see how you're doing. I miss you hun."

"Dad? I miss you too" I said truthfully, "and I'm actually pretty good. I have a date this weekend."

"Really? I don't know how I feel about you dating Dan... " my dad started.

"Dad, calm down, Ashton already gave me the whole nine yards" I laughed.

I could hear my dad chuckle, "I always knew Ashton was a good kid...."

We then lapsed into silence again before my dad continued, "So Danny, I know that you and Stacey don't really get along and I respect that you don't really want to see her, even if I love her, so I was thinking we could grab a coffee or something sometime so we can catch up."

I grinned, "I would love that Dad."

"Great!" I could hear the relief in his voice, "well then pick a date and then text me all the details. I'll see you soon honey."

"Love you Dad" I whispered.

"Love you too Dan" my dad replied.

I slipped my phone back into my pocket after hanging up and then downed the last of my milk before putting it in the dishwasher. Then, I headed downstairs and went to bed, excited for tomorrow. I was going out with Cole Somme.

Whoa! We're drawing near the end folks! There are only two more chapters and those will be the date chapters! I will probably also have an epilogue after that but still! OMIGOODNESS!!
