Without further adieu...

My eyes peeled open and I smacked at my phone a couple of times, trying to turn off my blaring alarm. I wanted nothing more than to just keep sleeping, but I knew I couldn't. Yesterday had been too weird and eventful for my liking and I'd barely gotten any sleep. After Jock and Ashton had finished bringing my stuff inside, my dad and Stacey had left without so much as a goodbye. After putting my stuff into some boxes that Dad had left me, and tossing them in the corner of my room, I had finally put some of my own clothes on so Ashton and I could go to the meeting with Kelldon's principal. It had really only been a quick hello seeing as Mrs. Ferrenda had been really busy but she seemed really nice and the school campus was beautiful. I'd tried to lay low for the rest of the day after that.When Cole came into our room to go to bed later on that night, he'd very pointedly ignored me.

I dragged myself out of bed and made my way over to one of my clothing boxes. After a few minutes of debate, I grabbed a pair of black skinny jeans, a blue plaid shirt and my favourite, beaten up pair of black converse. I grabbed my backpack and made my way upstairs. The first thing I saw when I got into the kitchen was a handsomely disheveled looking Tyson.

"Morning Dan-o. Feeling nervous?" he grinned.

"Slightly" I admitted.

"Honestly, you have nothing to be worried about. The scariest person at Kelldon is probably Cole" Tyson laughed.

I knew he trying to joke around and what he'd said was to assure me that none of the students were actually scary, but I had seen the look in Cole's eyes the other day as he'd growled at Stacey and I honestly wasn't so sure.

"Danny, Tyson, let's get going!" Ashton called.

"We're leaving already?" I asked.

"Yeah, school starts at 8:10... what time did your old school start at?" Tyson questioned as we jogged downstairs.

"9:30" I sighed longingly.

"Well, welcome to your new reality" Tyson chuckled.

The rest of the guys were gathered in the front hall and I tried my best to not look at Cole.

"Okay, who's going in what car?" Ashton questioned.

"Do we want to do me, you and Tyson and then Danielle can go with Cole so she doesn't have to ride in Ashton's death trap of a truck?" Jock suggested.

"No!" Cole and I exclaimed together.

Ashton gave us both a funny look, "alright... then I guess Danny and Jock, you're with me and Tyson you're with Cole."

I glanced at Cole and saw his shoulders immediately relax, "yeah okay, that works for me."

Everyone fell silent for a moment after that, obviously still wondering what mine and Cole's outburst had been about.

"Welp, let's go!" I said, popping the P.

Ashton nodded and with that we where all out the door and piling into cars. As Ashton's truck bumped and rattled down the street, I watched the houses pass by outside, each one blending into the next. Finally, the image of a large, dull brick building loomed into view.

"We're here" I gulped.

"Yeah, but seriously Danny, you'll be fine" Ashton assured me.

"Yeah Danford, Ash-lee is right" Jock added.

"Danford?" I questioned at the same time Ashton exclaimed, "Ashley?"

"Yeah I was trying out new nick names" Jock studied our faces, "no? Well, alright but you can't blame a guy for trying. I thought they were clever..."

Ashton shook his head as he pulled the truck into a parking space. After turning off the car, both Jock and Ashton hopped out. I took a shuddering breath and squared my shoulders, before hopping out of the truck. As we made our way across the parking lot, Cole and Tyson joined us. I could have sworn that everyone was staring at us and more specifically me.

"Do you have your course sheet?" Ashton asked.

"Yeah" I replied pulling the folded paper from my backpack.

I glanced down at the sheet. It would be weird entering the school a month into the year. I checked my courses; first English, then History, lunch, Drama and finally, Biology.

"What's your first class?" Tyson snatched up my schedule.

"English" I narrowed my eyes at him and took my sheet back.

"Perfect, so does Cole! See, you already have a frien-" Jock started.

"Well, come on Danielle, we don't wan't to be late" Cole cut in, dragging me behind him.

"Okay, I guess I'll see the rest of you later!" I called to the guys as Cole and I swiftly crossed the parking lot.

The second we got inside I felt even more eyes fall on me as whispers erupted throughout the hallway. Some people were looking at me in astonishment while others looked on with disgust. Admittedly, some looked completely uninterested though.

"Who's that with Cole Somme?" I heard someone whisper.

I ran my hands up and down my arms nervously. Cole turned down the hall and opened a large brown door. Before going in though, Cole turned to me, a serious look on his face.

"Look, it's probably best if you don't mention the current living situation, alright Danny?" Cole looked down at me.

"Why?"

He licked his lips and let his gaze fall to the ground, his eyelashes brushing his cheeks, "just trust me...  people can be mean."

Q: How many chapters have you written so far?

A: I'm currently writing chapter 16

Q: When does the title of the book actually become important?

A: LOL the whole 'how to flirt' thing won't actually come into play until later in the book because I'm trying to build up the characters first. I think it comes in about chapter 11 or so.

Q: Will Danielle end up with one of the guys?

A: Obviously I can't give that away right now! But I can tell you that there will be more characters coming in once Danny gets into class... :D
