COLE's POV!

I stood in the center of my room, staring at a girls back. Long brown hair tumbled down over her shoulders and I wanted her to turn around so I could see who it was.

"Hey, are you alright?" I tried asking.

My voice came out quiet and distorted. Finally, the girl turned around, causing me to frown in confusion.

"Danny?" I asked, my voice distant, "you look-"

She gave me a sad look, "Danny? Have you honestly already forgotten me and replaced me with someone else CAS?"

Everything inside me froze. Only one person ever called me that because, aside from my parents, she was the only one who knew my full name: Cole Atticus Somme. CAS. My mom was a bit of a To Kill A Mockingbird fan...

"Tessa? God no Tessy, I could never forget you!" I exclaimed.

I started towards her, but my legs could barely work, causing my movements to be slow and jerky. I let out a cry as she started to fade away.

"No! Tess, wait! Please Tessy, I can save you this time... I WILL save you this time!" I pleaded.

All of my pleas were in vain though because as I reached her at last, she was barely a smokey image.

"I miss you CAS. Death isn't fun, so promise you'll stay safe for me?" she whispered.

I didn't get a chance to reply though because she'd vanished and to my horror, a mini slide show of images I'd rather were left forgotten took her place...

Tess laughing and getting into the divers seat, saying she'd see me soon.... Blasting the radio as I drove along behind her, excited about how much fun we were going to have.... The wild look in the foxes eyes.... The ear-piercing sound of metal scraping against metal, and then breaking away.... The crash and roll of the strong current of the river.... Mom and Dad telling me to just let go of the case and move on... Me, leaving home, feeling betrayed.... The police saying they'd finally found the body.... All those crying people at the funeral....

I bolted up in bed, breathing heavily. I rubbed my eyes as I grabbed my phone and unlocked it. 4:30a.m. Well, at least that was more sleep than I normally got. I glanced over at Danny, knowing she wouldn't wake up but wishing she would. Danny looks so much like Tessa, but they have completely different personalities. Tessa was quiet, shy and fragile, but Danny...Danny is so strong and witty and outspoken. She isn't afraid to stand up for herself and she honestly scares me a little cause she could totally kick my butt. Yet... yet I find her easy to talk to. I feel safe around her and I can tell her things that I've never told anyone else. Also, Danny is incredibly fun to tease. Not that I'd ever admit this to her, but I think her being around is really good for me and honestly? I'm not sure where I'd be without her.

Hey, so that's it. It was short, and mysterious, but this is all I wanted :P And yes, I know it was kind of heavy with all of the stuff with Tessa, but it kind of had to be, cause Cole needs some resolve with this and as you've probably already guessed, Danny is the one who's gonna help with that.

Coming Up: We finally find out what happened to Tessy. More Cole And Danny time, but in a different atmosphere than the playful one that usually surrounds them. A contest!!! The details with be in the note that will be uploaded directly after this chapter!!!
