I held up a hand, cutting him off, "wait, maybe I don't want to hear this. Is it bad?"

Cole rolled his eyes, "you'll never know until you let me finish, will you?"

I sighed, "...alright, sorry. Go ahead."

Cole smiled, "thank you. So, the truth is, I hated you when I first met you because you reminded me so much of Tessa."

"Well... what do you think of me now then?" I asked quietly.

"Well, I started to get you as you, and not just 'that girl I hate cause she reminds me of Tess' and I started to actually kind of like you. I also realized that aside from your looks, you're not much like Tess at all. She was always quiet and shy and I honestly think she let me push her around too much. I always managed to get her into trouble. I have to admit though, there are still times when I struggle with not hating you for looking like her."

I paused, unsure if I should ask, "Cole... who exactly is Tessa?"

Cole's eyes seemed to cloud over, "Tessa was my friend."

I could tell by the look on his face that he wasn't going to tell me any more than that and I tried to hold in my disappointed sigh.

"You know" Cole said, glancing at me, "I have never even told anyone about Tessa since I got here, much less who she is... promise you won't bring her up again unless I do?"

I bit the inside of my lip slightly. I wanted to know; wanted for Cole to share every detail with me and explain why it upset him so much, but I knew that wasn't what he wanted.

I let my gaze fall to the ground, "alright, I promise."

"Thanks" Cole breathed.

We fell into an uncomfortable silence and I suddenly wished that Caleb and Keelie were still here. I wasn't used to seeing Cole looking like this. Looking... vulnerable almost. Cole cleared his throat and got up, taking the hot sauce and what was left of the chips so he could put them away. As Cole walked towards the cupboard, I noticed something silver flashing at his waist. A million possibilities flashed through my mind.

"What's that?" I asked as he returned from the closet, motioning my head to his waist.

He lifted his shirt to reveal a key chain full of car keys, "when Cole Somme throws a party, no one drinks and drives."

I smiled slightly, "but where are the people going to sleep?"

Cole shrugged, "they're either going to have to call a cab home, or sleep here. To be honest though, drunk people can sleep on anything so when you wake up tomorrow and go for breakfast, watch where you step."

I laughed, "right."

Cole grinned and I returned it...

"So" Cole said suddenly, his grin widening, "seeing as we have some time, how about I give you a few more flirting pointers?"

"Don't we need the rest of the guys here for that? Besides, I think I'm actually a pretty decent flirter" I protested.

"Nah, I'm sure the rest of the guys would just agreen with me on my tips if they were here. And you Idiot? You're probably about as good at flirting as a sack of potatoes."

"Wow Smirk, I totally thought we just had a relationship changing moment there, yet you're still being your same old mean self" I tried to pout but only ended up grinning.

Cole rolled his eyes, choosing to ignore me, "rule number two of how to flirt: you have to be playful. Flirting with someone is all about being playful, although I do admit, you are already pretty good at it."

I fake gasped, "a compliment from Cole Somme? I never thought this day would come! Hey... that rhymed!"

Cole narrowed his eyes, "rule number three: using sarcasm is okay, but you have to watch that you don't overdo it."

I gave him a salute, "sir, yes, sir!"

"I'm serious!" Cole insisted, "I mean, you don't want to use so much sarcasm that the person you're flirting with thinks you're being sarcastic about liking them as well!"

I raised an eyebrow, "you know this from experience?"

"Yeah, it's actually kind of funny story, but it's pretty lengthy and you look exhausted. There is school tomorrow... maybe you should get some sleep."

"Oh come on Smirk! You can't just leave me hanging like that! How about this, I'll get ready for bed, and then you can tell me before I go to sleep" I suggested.

Cole's infamous smirk flashed across his face, "you mean... like a bed time story?"

"Maybe" I laughed, wondering how it was that he made the nick name 'idiot' sound like some sort of compliment.

Cole considered for a moment, making a ridiculous thinking face, "alright, fine but just to make this clear, I think you're weird."

"Thanks" I smiled before grabbing my pjs and heading into the bathroom.

After changing, brushing my teeth and putting my hair into a pony tail, I re-entered our bedroom. I dumped my dirty clothes in a pile at the end of my bed and then crawled under the covers.

"Oh, by the way Cole, steal my clothes again and I will rip off your head and feed it to the animals at the zoo" I smiled sweetly.

"Jeez" Cole laughed.

"Okay" I looked at him expectantly, "now tell me the story!"

Cole grinned, taking a seat on his bed, "alright, alright! Now, this story is actually about a time when Ashton was trying to flirt with an exchange student, and apparently he'd read somewhere that sarcasm was a big turn on in her country. Well, let me tell you, by the time he was done 'flirting', the poor girl was in tears and Ashton looked like a deer caught in the headlights..."

I smiled, closed my eyes and snuggled deeper under my covers, letting myself drift off to the sound of his voice.
