Late Night Contemplations of Curses

It was only four-thirty in the morning but Wednesday was already out of bed and dressed sitting at her desk staring back at the girl asleep on their bed. Wednesday needed to get back to the Addams family mansion in order to prepare her gift for Enid. She also wanted to do some digging and find out more about the curse that loomed over her thanks to her heritage. Yoko's words continued to echo in her mind.

Okay, have you ever thought that maybe your soulmate isn't a boy but instead a girl?

Yoko's words swirled around in her mind taunting her. She had laid awake in their bed just staring at Enid. No matter how hard she tried she couldn't keep the vampire's words from her thoughts. How could she have been so naïve as to think that the curse's only option of attack was that of a boy? It was something that had been haunting her for the past week. She hadn't been able to pay much attention during her classes (not that she needed to as she already knew everything that they were teaching and more.) and it was beginning to annihilate her sleeping habits.

She needed to visit her home and uncover the truth of the curse that loomed over the Addams family. The only issue was that leaving the school premises and returning back to her home even if only for a day was a herculean task. It wasn't that getting away from the school was actually all that difficult. The difficulty came from having to contact her parents to arrange her departure from the school grounds.

Quietly she pulled the briefcase that housed the crystal ball out from under the bed. She didn't want to contact her parents in their room and risk potentially waking Enid. Wednesday would not have the fortune of being able to go where she pleased. The hall monitors would be beginning their patrols soon, so she would need to act fast and find a spot that they would be unlikely to investigate.

Wednesday's head snapped back as she side-eyed the disembodied hand.

"I do not need your help." Wednesday harshly whispered.

*snap*

Thing was getting sassy with Wednesday, something which she did not appreciate. Though what was even worse was that he was bringing up a good point.

She hated going along with someone else's plan, but it seemed to be the best idea. The only place she had managed to think of was her balcony but that wasn't the best choice for obvious reasons. She tried desperately to think of an area where she could make her call without being disturbed so that Thing wouldn't have the satisfaction of giving her the best plan. Much to her annoyance Wednesday couldn't think of a better location.

"I suppose it would be unlikely that they would extend their search perimeters to the courtyard."

Wednesday spun on her heels and made her way to the door. She paused and looked back at Enid's sleeping form, she was curled up and clinging to the stuffed animal Wednesday had gifted her. Her chest ached for some reason unknown to her as she continued to stare at the girl in the bed.

"Stop spouting such ridiculous ideas." She turned to face Thing as she began threatening him, her cheeks feeling warmer for a reason she couldn't comprehend. "And if you so much as think of following me when I find out that you listened in to this conversation then I'll make sure that you'll be nothing but a palm for the rest of your life."

Thing was visibly shaking unable to respond to Wednesday's threat. She enjoyed the mischievous feeling she got whenever she managed to get under his skin. Not wanting to delay any longer she carefully pulled the door back. Wednesday peeked her head around the corner of the door checking for any hall monitors that might be making their patrols. Once she was satisfied that the coast was clear and that there were no overly curious hands following her, she began making her way through the barren halls and towards the courtyard. Her mind was so preoccupied with the questions and her own theories about potential answers to them that she didn't realize how close she was to her destination until her boots squeaked as they came into contact with the damp grass of the courtyard.
