~Colleen's POV~
Josh and I spent the rest of our evening watching Netflix on the TV. But when we both got very tired, I shut off the TV and left to change and get ready for bed. I put on some PJ shorts and tank top, then hopped into bed. But then I saw something unusual; Josh had a little lump in the back pocket of his jeans. I'll decided to find out what it was later, once Josh was sleeping.
Josh was super tired and he hadn't gotten a lot of sleep lately, so he was immediately dozing off in a couple of minutes. I slowly got up to our closet and took out Josh's pair of jeans and checked the back pocket. Inside was a little sticky note with somebody's phone number. Was it from that waitress in the sushi restaurant? She probably gave it to Josh when I was at the front desk paying for our dinner!
I grabbed my phone from the nightstand next to the bed, and I slowly crept to the kitchen. I called the number.
"Hey baby."
"What?! Why did you give Josh your number? He's engaged with me!"
"Oh I'm sorry, this must've been a mistake. I'm Josh's ex from high school." Oh, so that's why Josh kept on eyeing her.
"Yeah, so? That means he doesn't even love you anymore!"
"What do you mean? Clearly he'd rather have me than a gross mess like you!" A tear was slowly running down my face. I honestly couldn't tell if this was true or not. This chick was talking in a tone that was calm but also sounded like she was mocking me. I don't know what to do now!
"I'm coming to your apartment tomorrow; be prepared to lose your so called 'fiancé'!" She ended the call, and I sat down to process what had just happened. Should I do something about this? I was thinking about Josh's ex for so long that I fell asleep on the couch that night.
- The Next Morning -
~Josh's POV~
I woke up feeling refreshed the following morning. I was about to turn around to Colleen to give her a kiss, but the other half of the bed was empty. Oh no, what happened this time?
I hurried out of the bedroom and luckily she was only sleeping on the couch. I couldn't bear it if Colleen had had another injury. I made breakfast for the two of us again, and I put it on the table and I ate while waiting patiently for Colleen to wake up. But then, there was a knock at the door. Who would be here this early in the morning?
I opened it slowly; Bethany was leaning against the door outside.
