Chapter 46

the next evening, everyone was at the Musashi shrine for another Toman meeting.

Mikey was standing atop the three stairs, overlooking all of the members as he updated the crowd on what was happening.

you tuned out, focusing in on Draken who was standing near Mikey with his arms crossed.

it had not been awkward between you two in the slightest; although you didn't talk about the kiss, and no one else knew about it.

you wanted to bring it up, but you were unsure of how. it wasn't something that could come up naturally in conversation, so you were stumped.

the longer you stared at his features, Draken felt someone looking at him and turned his head, making eye contact with you.

blushing, you looked away and turned your attention back on to Mikey, while Draken smiled lightly at your shyness.

Mikey wrapped up the meeting, and the members of Toman dispersed, leaving you, Draken, Mikey, Mitsuya, Baji, and Chifuyu.

gathering in a group, you smiled at the boys and they returned the gesture.

"man, i feel like we haven't all hung out in forever." Mitsuya commented, and the rest agreed.

"it's still early, you guys wanna do something right now?" Baji asked, looking around at his friends.

quiet murmurs of agreement ran through the six, and you all headed down the stairs to your motorcycles.

you had to get yours earlier that day, as well as Draken Mikey and Baji, since they were left parked outside of Haru's house from the party.

surprisingly, none of you got any tickets, and it was lucky seeing as they were parked there for almost three days.

swinging your leg over your bike, you sat comfortably and put your helmet on before turning the key and the engine roared to life.

your group followed Mikey, who decided he wanted to get something to eat.

the five of you agreed eagerly, your stomachs grumbling at the mention of food.

the ride was calm; a comfortable silence fell on your group and you rode the speed limit without the challenge of racing any of them, a change from how fast you all usually drove.

however, going the actual speed limit took more time to get to where Mikey was leading you, but none of you minded.

as you and the boys reached a small cafe, you parked your bikes and headed inside.

finding a table to fit all of you, you were seated in between Draken and Chifuyu.

the waitress came and went, with everyone's orders in hand. small talk was spoken around your table while waiting for the food to arrive.

"guys, i need a girlfriend." Chifuyu said loudly, causing you to laugh as he glared at you for doing so.

"what? that came out of nowhere," you defended, and Baji spoke up.

"so do i, man." the rest of the boys agreed, but Draken stayed silent.

"what about you, Draken?" Mitsuya asked, and everyone turned their attention on him.

"yeah Kenny, what about you?" you smirked at him, watching as his ears turned red.

"u-uh, yeah, i guess so." before you could tease him more, the waitress came back with everyone's food, making Mikey's eyes glow with joy.

no more words were spoken as you all enjoyed the food.

after everyone had chipped in to pay the bill, you and your friends exited the cafe and drove around until you stumbled upon a park, dimly lit by streetlights.

the boys parked their bikes with you following suit, heading towards the playground.

you and Mikey raced towards a small zip line, pushing each other in order to get to it first.

Mikey had arrived a second before you, and hopped on the seat without any hesitation.

wanting a turn on it, you ran up to him and pushed him over, watching as he fell onto the ground and sat up with a pout.

snickering was heard behind you, as the boys looked on at the scene.

after a few moments of bickering with Mikey, you came to the agreement to use the zip line at the same time.

you placed one foot on the small seat, while Mikey did the same and you flew down the line, laughing echoing around the park.

Draken sat down on a bench with Mitsuya, admiring your carefree features in the moonlight.

Baji and Chifuyu were on the swings, twisting the chains and letting them go, the two boys spinning slowly.

after a few turns you grew tired of the zip line, joining Draken and Mitsuya on the bench.

Mitsuya, being as observant as he is, noticed the slight tension between you and Draken, and took his leave to go talk to Mikey.

you were left alone with Draken, sitting a few spaces apart as a slightly awkward silence hung in the air.

"so.." Draken started, unsure of how to continue.

"so.." you repeated, immediately regretting it as things grew even more awkward.

"are we, gonna talk about last night?" he asked slowly, and you looked up at him, while he avoided your gaze.

"what, about my little breakdown or the kiss?" you chuckled, and he quickly joined in.

"i'm thinking more of the kiss."

"yeah, i figured. i don't know, what are your thoughts on it?"

he sighed, his gaze focused ahead of him.

finally, he turned to look at you with a piercing gaze.

"i like you, y/n. but i don't want things to move too fast; i know you've had difficulty with thag in the past."

your breathing hitched in your throat, blushing at his confession and how considerate he was with your feelings.

"i like you too, Kenny. i think we should just see how things play out, i don't want to out a label on things if we find out we're better as friends."

as soon as you said that, he looked away in disappointment. Draken thought that you were saying you'd rather stay friends, and as if reading his mind, you cleared things up.

"no, i mean, i do like you. i just want to take things slow, you know?" at that he looked at you again, smiling.

you smiled back, and scooted closer to him.

Draken wrapped an arm around your shoulders, while you rested your head on one of his shoulders and watched the other boys joke around and tease each other on the playground.

Chifuyu looked towards you and Draken, speaking just above a whisper to Baji, Mikey, and Mitsuya.

"you guys think there's something going on between them?" he asked, and the others deadpanned.

"you just now realized that?" Baji said, and Chifuyu became defensive.

"what! i thought they were just really close friends.." the three boys laughed at his words, turning their attention to the two of you and smiling.

you looked at the boys from a distance, raising your head.

"why are they smiling at us like that?" you asked, and Draken followed your gaze.

"i don't know; they look like psychopaths." you chuckled, pushing him lightly at his playful teasing towards the others.

you looked at him, before getting up and going over to your friends with Draken closely behind you.

the six of you laid down on the wood chips, looking at the stars and making occasional conversation.

the night continued like that, until you all grew tired a parted ways, agreeing to meet before school for the next day.
