The Merchant of the Deep Sea: Part 15

*Ciel's POV*

The bell rang for a final time, indicating that practice was over as many of the students were relived. We all decided to have one more match since Grim wouldn't stop complaining about not wanting to stop practicing. I put my sword back into it's scabbard before I began to stretch to get rid of some soreness due to all that running and swinging. Luckily, I didn't have to worry about my asthma since we took breaks which aloud me to use my inhaler when needed. I then look over at Grim, who was very happy while raising his arms in the air.

"Who knew a morning workout could feel so good? I'm alive, I tell ya! Aliiiive!" Grim cheered as I chuckle.

"And you were complaining about it earlier." Grim glared at me as I just give him a smile in return.

"Right? 'S why I get up an hour earlier than this to get some jogging in." Jack states with a smile while his tail wagged a bit.

"No wonder you go to bed around ten, so you can have the energy to get up earlier than most." I stated as Jack nods.


"O-okay, that might be a little overboard. So Savanaclaw Dorm's already trainin' hard for next year's interdorms, huh? Looks like we'll have some worthy rivals." Grim states as Ruggie looked at him confused for a bit.


"Oh, I guess you guys haven't heard yet. Every May, we have an even bigger Spelldrive event than the interdorm tournament."

"MRAH! It gets even bigger that that?!" Grim questioned in shock

"Yup. It's the interscholastic games." Leona informs him.

"Oh yeah, this isn't the only magic school, huh?" I inquire, remembering that there is another school besides Night Raven College.

"As the name suggests, it's a Spelldrive event where different schools compete." Ruggie clarifies

"Our school always plays against Royal Sword Academy." Leona states with a little growl.

"Ooh, I've heard of them!" Grim exclaims

"Of course you do, we met a student from there a few months ago." I reminded him with a sweatdrop.

"Twisted Wonderland's got a number of educational institutions for cultivatin' magicians. Night Raven College and Royal Sword Academy are particularly prestigious. We're basically known as the Big Two." Ruggie explains

"So what's Royal Sword Academy like?" Grim asked as I nodded in agreement wanting to know too.

All of the Savanaclaw students looked at each other, as if to figure out how to explain to us about our school's rival. Which I knew about that small detail thanks to that day when Che'nya showed up at the unbirthday party redo. After a while of trying to figure out what to say, they all look at Ruggie and Leona, who both sigh, for them to explain. Ruggie was trying to figure out the nicest way to explain to us it seems. However, the Savanaclaw housewarden seems to have him covered on that part.

"It's a school for pampered lordlings that's fulla snooty, scrawny wimps." Leona says bluntly


"Shyeheehee! What he said. Their campus 'n uniforms are all shiny and sparkly. Talk about lame! Can you imagine how much a single scuff would stand out on a white uniform? I know they're supposed to be a big deal, but I wouldn't go there even if they begged me." Ruggie states as he chuckles.

'I can't imagine wearing a white uniform without it getting dirty.' I thought to myself as Jack spoke up.

"Hasn't Night Raven College lost the interscholastics for the past hundred years running, though?"

"Really? That's pretty depressing." I stated as the others flinched a bit.


"Grk! W-well... We're only at 99 so far! You can bet your tail we'll win this year. Hundredth time's the charm." Ruggie argued with a stutter.


"From what I've seen watching the interscholastics on TV... Royal Sword Academy's roster of players are all individually outstanding, but that's not why they dominate. The real key is their incredible teamwork." Jack explains as I thought about it.


"Hey, wait a minute. If we're talkin' interscholastics here... Does that mean it'll be more 'n just Savanaclaw? Will the other dorms be goin' up against Royal Sword Academy, too?" Grim asked, which Leona nods.

"Yeah. Each dorm contributes a player into one big team that represents the school."

"Sounds like personality clashes waiting to happen." I stated with my arms crossed as Leona nods with an annoyed look.


"Last year, the team broke out into a brawl before the game even started, just from arguing over who got what position."

'That probably wasn't a pretty sight...' I thought with a sweatdrop


"Hah! I like their moxie. If you want a position, you gotta fight for it! I'll make sure I get picked as a school rep!" Grim declared.

"Not at the moment you aren't. After what happened last time, you need to practice more if you want to be chosen for the team." I stated in a serious tone


"If you wanna strut your stuff and make a good case for gettin' picked, the best way to do that is to stick to your daily practice." Jack informs him


"The interscholastics get higher TV ratings than the interdorms, so it's a prime chance to get scouted for the pro leagues!" Ruggie states with a smirk, same for Leona.


"You'd better start thinking now about what you're gonna do to beat out the competition and land a team spot."

Then everyone began talking to one another, some were talking about Royal Sword Academy while others were talking about the upcoming interscholastic games against the other school. I could hear insults and smart remarks about the rival school which reminded me what happened when Riddle and Trey's other friend showed up at the party. As for talk about the interscholastic games, they were talking about who's gonna be chosen for the games and how they hope to beat the other school. I then look over to see the Savanaclaw trio and Grim still talking, well mostly the trio telling Grim what is expected of him if he wants to make the cut. I stood a bit away from them as I began to think to myself about the information I had gotten from them.

'Royal Sword Academy, huh...?'
