*Ciel's POV*
We all were standing in front of the mirror, Ace and Deuce were now with us after we informed them of our plans and they agreed to help without any argument. It was mostly they were still guilty for being the reason me and Grim temporarily lost the dorm with the possible chance of losing it for good. I carefully pull out five bottles from a pouch like bag that Azul gave me, just in case I break some. I roll my eye as I remembered his words as I handed each of them a bottle before explaining what it does. Mainly to Ace and Deuce since Grim and Jack already knows, the two looked at the bottles with an unsure look.
"Will Azul's potions really let us breathe underwater?" Deuce questioned as he looked at one of the potions in his hand.
"Only one way to find out. We'll have to chug 'em and see for ourselves." Jack stated with a shrug
"Let's hope this works, otherwise I'll have to confront Azul about it." I said, praying that the potions work.
"Okay, on three. One, two...three!" Ace counted down.
Once Ace counted to three, we pull out the crooks and began to drink the potion until there was none left. But the moment the contents touched my tongue, Immediately wanted to spit it right out. It tasted so god awful that I began to feel tears form but I continued to drink it as I remembered that Crewel stated for certain potions like these to work, you have to drink all of it. I looked at the others and noticed that they also found the taste of the potion to be awful but like me, they continued to drink it. Once were done drinking, I place the empty bottles back into my bag to give back to Azul later.
"Whew... That was..." Deuce trailed off, not knowing what to say.
"NASTY! It tastes like someone mixed together dried frog and rotten mushrooms!" Grim exclaims at the terrible taste.
"How would you know what that tastes like? *cough* It's a...powerful flavor, all right..." Jack stated as he tried to get the bad taste out of his mouth.
"Do all potions taste this awful? If so, I hope I don't have to drink another one again." I stated as I felt like I was gonna puke but held it in.
"What genius decided that potions have to taste like crud, anyway? Someone oughta fix that. *Burp*" Ace questioned as he burps
"Shouldn't we be more worried about efficacy than flavor? W-wait a minute. It's...getting harder to breathe..." Deuce said as he began to have trouble breathing.
"Y-yeah I feel as if my lungs are burning from a lack of air." I gasped out as I began to struggle breathing.
"Are our lungs adapting to breathing underwater?" Jack questioned as him and Grim gasped for air.
"Gah... *Gasp* Aw geez, this gettin' bad. Let's get in the water, quick!" Ace gasped out
"Mirror of Darkness! Guide us to the Coral Sea!" Jack shouts despite the lack of air.
The mirror began to glow brightly as each of us quickly enters to avoid suffocating from a lack of air thanks to the potion. We closed our eyes and preyed where ever we are, we can be able to breath normally. However the moment we reopen our eyes, we saw that we were underwater in the Coral Sea rather than on the surface. I looked around to see rocks with different colored coral surrounding us along with sea weed. There was also a shipwreck nearby as bubbles floated upwards from small holes. I looked towards the others to see how they're fairing.
"*Gurgle* It just dumped us in the water! I'm gonna drown!" Grim exclaims as all of us began to panic and tried to head back to the surface but then we stops when we noticed something. We we're breathing normally again.
"Wait. I'm breathing just fine." Deuce states
"Me too, which means the potions worked like Azul stated!" I exclaimed in relief.
"Huh? Oh, hey, you're right." Grim says
"We really can breathe underwater." Jack said in shock.
"Dude! Get a load of this coral reef! If Cater was here, he's be hashtagging pics of it faster than you could say the word 'Magicam'!" Ace said as we looked around, in awe and shock.
"It's gorgeous." I said in awe before noticing the fishes swimming around.
"Look at all the cute fishies!"
"We don't have time to gawk at the scenery. We'd better get a move on and head to our target." Jack stated as he placed a hand on my shoulder
"Oh right, let's get going!" I stated, however, walking is not that easy underwater as we began to struggle.
"So hard to move! Mrrragh! I feel like a fish outta water here. Or whatever the opposite of that is!" Grim complains.
'Guess we're swimming than...' I thought to myself.
Since walking was out of the question we had no choice but to swim instead to get to our location faster. Jack placed me on his back since I couldn't swim as I don't remember how to and never got the chance to re-learn it, so Jack offered to help me. Then the four began to swim as I held onto Jack. Grim was complaining about having to swim, which made Ace yell at him, as he was doing a cat version of doggy paddle. But thankfully, we didn't have to suffer from his complaints since we arrived to our location after a couple of minutes.
"Hey, check it out." Deuce said as he points towards a building.
The building looked like a white castle except
"That's it, yeah? The Atlantica Memorial Museum?" Ace questioned
"Seems so, I did some research with Jack about the place before going to the cafeteria." I inform the trio as Jack nods.
"Myah! Look at all these guys with fish tails instead of legs!" Grim exclaims as he pointed towards somewhere.
We looked and saw two of merman swimming around with armor shoulder pads and a teal stash on them. One was an older merman while the other was a younger mermen as they seem to be talking to one another. They are probably the guards in charge of watching the museum to prevent anyone from stealing. However, both of them were smiling and not paying us any mind to our presence, which was good for us. We look at them in awe as this is probably our first time seeing a merfolk in person.
"Are those...mermen? Wow. There really ARE people out there who live underwater." Jack says in awe
'They're like the mermaid from that dream.' I thought to myself before I saw two silhouettes swim by us.
"Eeeyyy! There you are, Little Shrimpy and co.!"
"Good day, everyone. How are you liking it here under the sea?"
"Those voices... It's the lookalike brothers!" Grim exclaims as we turned around
"Got it in one!" Floyd cheered with a smile.
"!!!!!!"
We were taken as we saw that the twins weren't their normal selves, instead they weren't human at the moment. Their skins were a teal green with some white and black stripes on them, they had an eel like tail as well. Their ears were replaced with fin like ears and some webbing between their fingers. However despite all those features, they still had human faces, eyes, and hair which helped us recognized them. Looking at them, I couldn't help but be reminded of those two eels from those two dreams I had.
"Why d'you look like that?!" Jack questioned
"Whaddaya mean? This is how we normally look. After all, we're mermen" Floyd states as if this is normal.
"You are?! But you have legs at school..." I said as I couldn't wrap my head around this.
'Well, now that I think about it, it should've been obvious...'
"We use potions to change our forms when we're on land. After all, we can hardly walk on solid ground with these tailfins." Jade explains
"Dude, they're long! How tall—uh, I mean, how LONG are you?" Ace asked them, which received no answer.
"Are you some kind of sea serpent?" Deuce questions
"Solid guess, but nope. We're morays." Floyd answers with a smile.
"Who cares what they are? I wanna know why they're here!" Grim demands
"Yeah. you two must be here for a reason, though I have a feeling that you both aren't here visiting the museum." I stated as both of them smirks.
"Aha ha. That's easy. We're here to get in your way." Floyd responses
"I shoulda known." Ace states with a frown
"It wouldn't do for you to complete your challenge to easily." Jade explains.
I groan as I pulled out my sword from it scabbard and changed the elemental type to plant based. Jack, Ace and Deuce pulled out there magic pens and got into a fighting stance with Grim hissing at the twins. We began to battle as Jack sent some plant based spells at the twins as I slashed at them. However, Deuce, Ace, and Grim were having trouble aiming as they kept missing every time they tried to attack. And it didn't help that the twins were landing their hits at the trio. We continue fighting but I saw that we were at a disadvantage and I felt my breathing began to become labor as I felt pain in my chest, I won't be able to hold out for much longer, same for Jack as I thought to myself.
'We're not gonna win this fight...'
