The next day I expected Miya to ghost me as usual but this time she spoke to me. She was even the first to say good morning.
At least I didn't miss work for nothing. I learned so much about Miya yesterday: she's super rich but prefers going to the cafe. Her Dad is... Let's just say he gives me the creeps.
After school I apologized to my boss for missing work but he was totally okay with it.
"Hey Max, can I get one Americano not too sweet please?"
Hearing her say my name felt like a million dollars had just filled my pockets.
Despite how amazing it felt I couldn't help to think of how better it would feel if she was smiling. Come to think of it, I have never seen her smiling. She's always so serious.
I gave her, her coffee with a big smile hoping she would smile back but she simply thanked me and walked to her table.
"Since you guys are talking, I highly doubt she'd chase you away if you sat next to her" James said cleaning the counter next to me.
"Man I wish I could give it a shot but I have work, remember"
"Don't you think I know that, that was literally me offering to do your shift,you idiot."
"Well maybe next time you should be more clear instead of making me guess what you mean."
