2 Years later

It had been  two years since I last saw Miya. I missed her every day but our calls and texts decreased by the day until they all faded away.

I got into college and got a job as a cashier at a snack shop.

James got into a better college abroad and I was happy for him. I just wish he didn't have to leave me behind.

Robby and Lee moved away too. I guess I was the only one stuck in my town but I had to stay.

Clara stared High School and was always out with friends. She said they were always doing homework but I knew better. Mom's condition got slightly worse but she always kept her smile, which made me happy.

Unfortunately I have to work two jobs because the money Dad sends has decreased drastically. There are even times when he doesn't send at all so I work the night shift at the cafe.

I was on my way to the snack shop when I saw a girl. She had brown hair. It was in a bun but it was obvious she had long hair. She was talking to a boy and a girl they were all laughing at something but she looked the happiest. Even from a distance, one could not deny her beauty.

I wanted to go over there and say hi but then I realized just how much time had passed and how she changed so much.

She was no longer the quiet girl in the cafe, now she was the vivacious girl in her own beautiful world.

I went to work and sat there waiting for a customer. Business was slow but I didn't mind as I was getting paid either way.

I was reading the daily newspaper when a familiar voice said, “Hey, can I get one Americano not too sweet please?”

I couldn't stop myself from laughing at her little joke.
