The following day, Shirayuki sat across the table from Tengen as she told him how the final selection went. "A weird heat signal?" he asked, making her nod. "It was different from any other demons I encounter," she explained.

Tengen hummed before Hinatsuru looked at him. "You think it was one of the Lower Moons?" she asked. Tengen shook his head and tapped his chin. "I can guarantee none of the Twelve Moons would be here," he said.

Then, turning toward Shirayuki, he asked, "What powers was it using?" making Shirayuki tilt her head. "Well, I heard him mentioning sand," she explained, making Tengen nod. He suddenly had a look of realisation before crossing his arms. "You encountered one of the Tailed Beast Demons," he revealed.

Shirayuki furrowed her brows upon hearing this, causing Tengen to smile at her confusion. "The tailed beast demons are closely connected to the Twelve Moons," he explained before looking outside.

"Legend has it that each tailed beast is an apprentice of a different Upper or Lower Moon and was granted incredible powers by their masters," he said before looking at her. "So I fought a tailed beast demon?" she mumbled before Suma grabbed her hand.

"It also means your training paid off since you won!" she cheered, earning a smile from Shirayuki. Then, she turned toward Tengen with curiosity and concern. "What exactly are the tailed beast demons capable of?" she asked.

Tengen leaned back and crossed his arms. "Each tailed beast has its own unique set of powers. Just like the Twelve Moons," he explained. "But while Muzan granted the Moons their abilities, the tailed beast demons received theirs from their respective masters," he said, making her nod.

"Are they all as powerful as the Moons?" Shirayuki asked, making Tengen shrug. "It's hard to say, as their strengths and weaknesses vary," he said. "But make no mistake, they are dangerous adversaries," he warned, making her nod.

Next to her, Suma looked worried. "S-so if there are tailed beasts demons, does that mean there are also more demons out there that we don't know about?" she asked.

Tengen nodded gravely. "It's possible," he said before shaking his head. "But we don't know for sure. All we can do is stay vigilant and be prepared for whatever comes our way," he warned.

Shirayuki took a deep breath. "How many tailed beasts are there?" she asked, making Tengen look at her with a serious expression. "There were originally nine," he said before smiling, "But now that you've dealt with one, there are only eight remaining," he concluded.

Shirayuki felt a sense of pride and relief wash over her. "I'm glad I could take one down," she said, a small smile gracing her lips. "But I know there's still a lot of work to be done," she said, making Tengen nod in agreement. "Yes, there is," he said.

Then, humming, Shirayuki tilted her head. "Tengen-senpai, did you ever encounter one of the tailed beast demons?" she asked. Tengen shook his head and sighed. "Never, but your uncle Touya did, which was his last mission before he disappeared," he informed her, making Shirayuki nod. "...so maybe one of them knows what happened to him," she guessed, making Tengen nod.
