Lennie's POV

I sat outside on a chair trying to think of what to do. I didn't want to ride my bike to town. I could ask to borrow the car, but I'm not too confident at the moment.

I had been cooped up in the house for the past week. I wanted to do something.

"Hey!" I shot my head up confused at who was yelling out. My eyes found the car waiting infront of my house.

There was a girl and boy sitting in the front seats.

"You're Lennie, right?" The girl asked.

"Um...yes." I said, standing up slowly. I wasn't sure if I needed to run or keep talking.

"I'm Veronica, call me Ronnie. You already met my mom and little brother."

"Oh, Kiszka, right?" I asked, relieved they weren't a complete threat.

"Yup." She said. "We were wondering if you'd want to go with us, we're going to a little cafe and maybe a little shopping. You know, help you get your feel of the place."

"Uh..." I trailed off shocked at what was happening. "Sure, I mean I need to check in with my mom, but yeah."

"Cool, we'll wait for you." She smiled. I was still so confused at what was happening, but it seemed good. I was also curious which one the boy was.

"MOM!" I called. I found her quickly and ran it by her. She was very hesitant, but thought it would be good for me.

I hurried out to the Kiszkas waiting on me patiently. I waved as I got out my door. I tried to look as friendly as possible, I didn't want them to regret being nice to me.

"Thank you for, well I don't know, inviting me." I said as I sat in the backseat of their car.

"No problem, we figured you wouldn't mind getting out of your house." Ronnie said.

"Oh, yeah, this is Jake." She said pointing to the boy in the passenger seat.

"Hi." I said with a small wave.

"Hey." He smiled back. He wasn't bad on looks. Him and Ronnie looked very similar, I wouldn't be surprised if they were the twins.

"Have you explored anywhere yet?" Jake asked.

"No, I've only rode my bike around a bit." I said.

"Well, it's not too hard to get around here. I'm sure you'll figure it out." She said. I nodded with a smile and sunk back into the seat.

"Hey, Jake." I said. Ronnie had went to refill her mug, leaving me and Jake.

"Hm?" He hummed.

"If I'm not mistaken, aren't you a twin? Your mom said something about you and, I think Josh was his name, the other night."

"Josh is a pain." He said immediately. I guess that answered my question. "You're lucky he wasn't with Ronnie, he would've scared you off."

I laughed a little, amused at his complaints.

"Are you two like identical or just fraternal?" I asked. I didn't want it to get awkward and quiet.

"Identical." He said. "Not completely of course, our hairs different and all."

"You won't mistake them either." Ronnie said sitting back down at the table. "Josh is...unforgettable, to say the least."

"Unforgettable, irritating, depends on the day." Jake said. I laughed and took a sip of my coffee. I was very curious to meet this 'Josh.'

They took me to this cute little store, I don't remember the name of it. The outing came to an end and we exchanged numbers.

"I'll call you or something, we're definitely hanging out again." Ronnie said as she pulled into my driveway.

"Okay, I'm down for whatever." I said. I was happy that I wasn't completely stranded anymore. "Again, thanks for inviting me out."

"You're welcome." Ronnie said. "See ya."

"Bye, Ronnie." I opened the car door. "Bye, Jake."

"Goodbye, Lennie." Jake said. I walked into my house feeling proud, maybe that was the word. I had to retell the whole tale of it to my mother. She was just glad I was making friends.

Josh's POV

"Where were you all day?" I asked from the kitchen.

"You're not gonna believe me." Jake said. I was confused on what could possible be that unbelievable.

"Are you not going to guess?" I shook my head as a 'no,' causing him to get a disappointed look.

"We were hanging out with Lennie." He said.

"Lennie, as in 'new girl' Lennie?" I asked in disbelief.

"Sorry." He said with a side smile.

"What did you kidnap her?" I asked.

"No, she willingly got in the car." He said.

"And you didn't think to even bring her by the house or something?" That could've been my chance to see her. It had been a little over a week, and I had yet to see her.

"That would've been weird." Jake said. I rolled my eyes at him. I just wanted to know what she looked like. It weirded me out, I was so worried about seeing what she looked like.

"Ronnie might invite her over or something, I'd ask her about that." Jake said with a small wink. I debated the possible problems with this, but I was slightly desperate.

"Hey." I said politely, as I slipped into my sisters room.

"What?" She asked, not very interested in what I had to say.

"So, I uh, heard you guys hung out with that new girl." I tried to sound casual.

"Lennie?" She asked turning to face me.

"Yeah, that's her name."

"What are you trying to do?" She asked.

"Nothing." I said quickly. I was terrible at feigning innocence.

Ronnie looked at me blankly trying to figure out what I was doing.

"Are you going to invite her over?" I asked finally.

"Maybe, are you wanting her over?" She asked.

"No."

"No?" She repeated. "Then why'd you ask?"

"Just curious." I said.

"Uh-huh." She said, obviously not buying it. "I might, not going to tell you when though."

With that I turned around and left the room. That was a maybe, a maybe is better than a no.
