Lennie's POV

It had been about a week since I last hung out with the Kiszka's. I had done virtually nothing all week because they weren't here. All the kids were off visiting some grandparent, but they got back yesterday.

I was sitting around, basically waiting for Ronnie to text me.

Ronnie
Hey :)

I quickly responded to her text. She asked me to come over, which I obviously did. I got ready and walked across the street towards the Kiszka's house.

It only took one knock this time, Jake answering immediately.

"Well, hello, Lennie." He smiled. He opened the door allowing me to come inside. "I think Ronnie's in her room. I don't know about Josh."

Josh? Why would I want to know where Josh was?

"Thanks." I smiled to Jake. I made my way down the hall to Ronnie's room. Her door was opened already, her resting on her bed.

"There you are." She smiled. I found a spot by the foot of her bed.

"So, how was your trip?" I asked.

"It was typical. Family event or two, all the old people who have seen you in diapers, and the long road trip back." She explained.

"That sounds very lovely." I laughed. Ronnie looked at me with a mischievous smile planted on her face.

"Okay, I have to tell you." She spat out. "I heard Josh and Jake talking about you."

"What?" I asked, alarmed. "When? About what?"

"When we were at our uncle's house, I heard them talking, and then I heard your name. Josh was talking and he was like 'I don't know, she's just so...,' and he would trail off. And he kept like trying to talk, but he never said anything specific." She explained.

"Was it like a good or bad tone?"

"Good." She said. "Like he sounded awestruck."

"Is that all you heard? Was there more?" I asked eagerly.

"No, Jake said something, but he doesn't talk nearly as loud as Josh. And right when I thought I might hear something, Sammy had to pop up. Then they knew I was there, so they stopped talking." She sounded as disappointed as me.

"Maybe, he was talking about me being like, a good friend." I tried to be reasonable.

"I don't think so." She said. "They've had a lot of moments where they like, talk quietly, and the moment I walk in, they stop."

"But how do we know it's about me, or that's it's even positive talking." I said.

"Len, just take it as a good thing. He mentions you more than I do." She said.

"I know, but I just don't want to get my hopes up. It could all just be a ruse of some sort."

"I really doubt that." She said.

"I'm not sure." I said. We sat silently for a moment when I heard someone's footsteps.

"Ron, have you seen my little jacket?" Josh called, out of sight. "It's that red patchwork-type one. I think you took it."

"I'm not sure." Ronnie called. I could tell he was almost here, his voice growing louder.

"I really need it, I think I'm going to try and see if she wants to hangout." He entered the room, not paying attention. He was dressed lazily in sweatpants and a oddly designed shirt. His hair was a mess, looking like he hadn't attempted much since he woke up. He looked really good for some reason.
