Lennie's POVIt had been a few days since I went to the Kiszkas house. I had talked to Ronnie a little bit after then, but we were trying to figure out when to hangout.
I was trying to get a garden started in my back yard. I was just gonna do it with herbs, I had no idea what grew good here.
"Lennie!" My mom called out.
"Over here!" She started towards my spot in the yard.
"There is a very attractive, young man waiting for you at the front door." She said, with a little wiggle in her eyebrows.
"Wait, what 'attractive young man' do I know?" I asked confused.
"I don't know his name, but I know it's Karen's boy." She started to walk back to the house. Karen? Who's Karen?
"Oh my god." I said aloud. I jumped up for the front door. I dusted myself off and ditched the gloves.
I made sure I was presentable enough, and opened the front door.
"Hi." He smiled, almost immediately.
"Hi, Josh." I said.
"Are you playing in the dirt?" He asked, motioning to the dirt stained to my knees.
"Oh, yeah, I'm trying to start a garden." I laughed. "What are you doing here?"
"I wanted to see if you were up to hangout?" He asked. His smile was so sweet, he seemed slightly nervous.
"Uh, sure. I would just need to change clothes." I motioned to the dirty knees.
"We don't have to go anywhere." He said. "I could help you with your garden."
"Are you sure you'd want to do that?" I hadn't ever been around people who jumped at the bit to do that. I was the only one willing to keep up a garden in my household.
"Of course. I help my mom with our garden." He smiled. I nodded and moved back so he could enter the house.
"What are you growing?" He asked.
"Little things like mint, basil, cilantro, sage, a lot like that."
"You'll have your own homemade spices." He said. I nodded and we walked in a small silence.
"You can use my gloves." I handed him the gloves that had been ditched on the ground.
"Are you sure?" He asked.
"Yeah, I like to play with dirt." That made him giggle a bit. I loved his little laugh.
"So, what do I do?" He asked. He held up his gloves as his 'ready to go.' It was so sweet. This was not the same Josh who flipped me off at the intersection.
He helped me plant seeds and anything in between. He was a pretty good helper.
"So." I said, slightly nervous. He looked over to me. "I heard I was a big mystery to you for the first week or so."
He looked down with an, almost embarrassed, smile. "Yeah, I hadn't seen you yet. Everyone else had, just not me."
"So I was like, the cool mysterious girl?" I said. He laughed at me, I could tell that he was embarrassed.
"Basically, yeah. They all teased me about it." He said.
"Well, did I meet your expectations?" I asked. He looked at me for a moment, silently thinking. I felt nervous that he was just looking at me.
"I would say so." He nodded. I laughed at that, I didn't expect to even slightly meet the idea he had in his head.
"Lennie!" My dad called out. I turned around confused at why he was yelling.
