Dan was with his two best friends; Oliver and Jennifer. The three friends were at a party a guy named Harry was having. Dan didn't know Harry well, and neither did Oliver or Jennifer, but the party was open for the whole school to attend. About a quarter of the school turned up. The house was huge, like, almost mansion sized, and the living room was 4x the size of Dan's small living room. The music was loud enough to deafen anyone, people were tripping over tables and chairs, clumsily. Dan and his friends weren't drunk, but they had the odd, small pint.
"Why are we even here?" Oliver groaned, rubbing one eye. Jennifer gently shoved him. "Because, killjoy, it's a party, and what else would we be doing on Saturday?" Jennifer said, shouting over the rave music. Oliver, clearly having dirty thoughts smirked to himself, then received a glare from Jennifer. His face flushed.
"Yeah, Oliver, we all need to have fun, I guess." Dan spoke, high five-ing Jennifer. "See, Ollie? It's about having a good time." Jennifer grinned, before happily clapping and squealing. "OOH, my favourite song is playing. C'mon, lets dance." She chirped before dragging Oliver out of his chair, and giggling. Dan was left by himself at the wooden rounded table. He watched everyone mindlessly dance the night away, the couples snogging on the couches and tables. Dan just wanted to have fun like everyone else.
Dan's eyes then found Jennifer and Oliver, in the crowd of school kids raving. Jennifer was swinging her arms around and having a ball of a time, whilst Oliver was awkwardly stood there. He smiled at his friends before getting out of his seat, and searching the house for the bathroom. Dan had already discovered three bathrooms which were all occupied by either people snogging, or most likely a hammered dude. He sighed and carried on his search. Dan found a staircase, and impatiently ran up it.
He bumped into a tall figure, who spilt his drink all down himself. Dan gulped, and looked to find the strongest, douches of the school.
Matt Griffis.
"What's your problem, faggot?!" Matt shouted, shoving Dan, causing him to almost fall down the stairs. Behind Matt where his jerk friends who were always beside him. "No problem. Just going upstairs." Dan muttered. The high school douches shook their heads, synchronised, then began to lunge for Dan. Dan turned around and sprinted down the stairs. He pushed and shoved in the crowds of people, and finally arrived at the front door and ran outside in the freezing.
Dan stopped to have a breather. He glanced over his shoulder and saw the jerks making their way towards him. Dan ran as fast he could away from them. He had left his friends and his jacket at Harry's, and he hadn't a clue where to run to. Harry lived a mile away from Dan, and Jennifer had drove them to the party.
"Dan, get back here, prick!" One of the douches yelled. Dan ignored whatever else they were all shouting, and carried on speeding his pace. All hope was shattered for Dan when had ran into a dead end, surrounded by out-of-buisness-shops and scummy flats. Matt approached Dan, slowly, sniggering at the terror in his eyes. "Just where we want you." He laughed, bumping his fist into his other hand. 'This was it, oh shi-.' Dan's thoughts were interrupted, as Matt swung his fist right into Dan's right eye.
Dan stumbled backwards, and felt dizzy. He got back up straight, but as he did, one of Matt's friends kicked him hard in the chest, and Dan fell ungracefully onto the floor. His head took damage from landing on the floor, and the douches surrounded. Everything went blurry, fading slowly to black. "Wow, that was easy.".
Dan stirred and yawned, to find himself in some strangers bed. As he sat up, his body ached all over. His head pounded. Dan let out a quiet moan and looked around the room. 'Where am I? Who's house is this?' Dan thought to himself. Dan stood up off the white, double bed and opened the door. His vision fully adjusted and he saw a tall, ebony haired guy, flipping a pancake.
"Err- Hi?" Dan said. The older boy put the pan down and turned around to Dan. "Morning. Are you okay?" The guy asked with a small, sweet smile on his face. "I've been better... Who are you?". The raven haired boy glanced back at the pancake, then looked over to Dan.
"Phil. Phil Lester.".
"Who are you?" Phil asked after the few seconds of silence. Dan's stomach rumbled as he clenched his tummy. "I'm hungry." Dan laughed, getting a good whiff of the pancake. Phil laughed before walking over to Dan. "But seriously, what's your name?" Phil asked eagerly.
"Dan Howell." Dan responded, shyly. Phil continued to look at him, the ran back to the stove, to check on the pancake. "Well, Dan Howell, if you want, you can this pancake, and I'll have something else." Phil offered kindly, turning to face Dan. Dan hesitated to answer, then nodded.
Whoever this Phil was, he was perfect, Dan thought. If it wasn't for Phil, Dan could just be laying limp on the concrete ground of one of the horriblest parts in town now. Maybe even dead. Dan sat to the breakfast bar, and watched Phil as he finished making the pancake. Phil poured orange juice into two glasses, walking over to the breakfast bar, and placed the glass on a coaster in front of Dan. "Nutella, jam, lemon, syrup?" Phil asked Dan what filling he wanted in his pancake. "Syrup, please." Dan answered, and gazed at his dark purple bruises, spread all over his arms.
That was even the worst of the damage they had done. Dan caught sight of a mirror hung on the wall, and was appalled at the reflection. His mouth formed a 'o' shape. Dan softly stroked the shiner and muttered curse words under his breath. Phil brought over his plate, and stopped to look at an irritated Dan. "Yeah, whoever did that, must have punched pretty hard." Phil sighed, laying the plate in front of him.
"His name is Matt and I hate is freaking guts."
"Oh, well, enjoy your breakf-."
"How did you find me?" Dan asked, interrupting him.
Phil slumped into the stool next to bruised boy and cleared his throat.
"Well, I was asked to go to my friend, Harry's house after he had his party to help clear up. And on the way, I saw you, unconscious on the ground. I drove you to my place, and set you in the spare bedroom. And I ended up not helping clean Harry's, but oh well, haha..." Phil laughed, sheepishly.
