Now that Dan knew Phil wasn't lying, he feel like the luckiest boy in the world. Being entangled in his arms couldn't feel anymore safer or comfortable. As it was Saturday, Dan didn't have to go to school. Though he did travel back to his house to pick up his belongings, including his phone, in case of emergencies. As Dan returned 'home' with his rucksack, he saw Phil waiting inside by the door.
"So do your parents know your gay?" Phil said, scratching the back of his neck, "It's just I've dated a guy who wasn't open, and it didn't go down too well...".
"No, but I want to tell them." Dan said, quietly gulping afterwards. He didn't feel so confident about coming out after having second thoughts. Phil pulled Dan for reassuring hug after realising he was unsure. "It'll be okay.".
Dan hoped it would.
Surprising the two boys, Dan's iPhone vibrated in his pocket. He scooped out his phone and checked the text message. There were 5 recent messages left. All from Oliver. 'Dan, where are u? Meet me at the park asap'. Crap. This can't be too good.
"I have to go. I'll be back soon, okay?" Dan said, pecking Phil's cheek, and before Phil could say a word, Dan was out of the door, leaving his boyfriend with many unanswered questions. Dan was running his way to the park. The park was also quite near his own house. When he finally arrived, he stumbled across a very paranoid, worried Oliver. He was anxiously waiting on a wooden bench inside the park, staring at the Samsung Galaxy held in his phone.
"Hey, what's up-.".
"What's up?" Oliver snapped, "Well, Jennifer has 'disappeared'. Her dad is worried sick and he's phoned the police. Then when you're not at home, I panic that I've lost both my best friends.".
Dan froze as he imagined all the possibilities of what could have happened to Jennifer, and it terrified him. Guilt overcome the fright however when he remembered how scared Oliver was when he thought he had lost Dan too.
"I'm really sorry..." Dan sighed.
"Sorry enough to explain where you were?" Oliver said darting his eyes at Dan.
"Phil's." Dan mumbled.
"For 2 days? Seriously?".
"Yes, seriously!" Dan almost shouted.
He had caught Oliver's full attention. Oliver shook his head apologetically. "I understand, I mean I know you're not gay or anything, I'm just way too protective over you and Jennifer and...".
"But I am gay. And Phil is my boyfriend.".
Oliver had such a shocked expression on his face. The two stared at each other. Dan, defensively and Oliver, surprisedly. To Dan's relief, Oliver smiled and nodded. "I don't have a problem with it.".
This was second greatest news Dan had got today. First, of course knowing Phil was his. He couldn't help, but squeeze the life out of Oliver and beam "Thank you, thank you, thank you!" Dan laughed with Oliver.
After chatting and discussing their worries for their best friend, they decided to leave it until tomorrow. Dan headed back to Phil's. As he opened the door, he saw Phil huddled in a blanket on the couch. And he was asleep. Dan silently aww'd before crawling under the blanket and snuggling up against him. Phil nudged Dan's chest as he let out muffled words. Dan couldn't understand what Phil was actually saying, but he giggled at his adorableness before closing his eyes and falling asleep.
Dan woke up to find those wondrous, dreamy blue eyes staring back at him contently. He loved Phil's eyes so much that he wondered if Phil would look in the mirror and just freeze in amazement of his bedazzling eyes. Dan giggled at his silly thought and stretched his arms out wide and letting out a huge roar-like yawn. Phil ran his fingers through Dan's hair, resting his hand on Dan's head. "Good evening." Phil sleepily sniggered.
