The trio had walked into the ancient school building and to the girls toilets. As Dan and Oliver weren't girls, they stood outside and awkwardly waited for Jennifer to wash her face. Oliver leaned against the plastered wall, lost in thoughts. His dark blonde hair hung, almost covering his left eye. The 16 year old had quite pasty skin, and light green eyes. He was wearing his jet black school pants, a white shirt which wasn't tucked in, and his tie that was loose. Oliver had never been the tidiest.
Dan impatiently kept glancing at the girls toilets every now and then and Oliver was just blankly staring at the floor. The bell rung and Dan grunted to himself, as crowds of students pushed passed him and Oliver to get to their lockers and classes. "How long is she going to be?". And fortunately for Dan, that's when Jennifer walked out. Her strawberry blonde hair appeared more combed compared to before. And for first time in a long while, she had absolutely no makeup on.
"I don't want to stay here for 6 hours. I'm going." Jennifer sniffled. The two boys gawked at what she had just said. Jennifer wasn't someone who normally skived, but then again, she wasn't much of the goodie two shoes she use to be. Dan and Oliver had skived before. Many, countless times. Dan shrugged his shoulder and flashed a promising smile at Jennifer.
"I'll join you. I can't be bothered with school today either." The two stared at Oliver and waited for an answer. He groaned; giving in. "Okay, okay.".
Jennifer grinned, then turned around, flipping her long wavy hair and skipped over to her locker that when she opened revealed photos of the band Panic! At the Disco. Jennifer, the fangirl she was, stroked all the members faces then sighed, before taking out her navy backpack. Oliver laughed, shaking his head.
"What? They are perfect." Jennifer protested, swinging the bag over her shoulders, and following Dan and Oliver to their lockers. Inside Oliver's, there wasn't anything. No photos or stickers. Just pure plainness. "Wow, how amazing." Jennifer muttered, sarcastically. Oliver flipped her off, then grabbed his old crimson and black backpack. It was once way too big for him, but now... It was a tad bit too small.
Inside Dan's locker contained photos of the three of them and the odd one of Matt Bellamy. "See? Dan's locker isn't boring." Jennifer said, her lips curling into a smile. Oliver didn't acknowledge Jennifer and started walking slowly as soon as Dan shut his locker. It was just Dan, Oliver and Jennifer and silence roaming the corridor. Everyone were in their form groups, like sensible pupils.
"So, where are we going?" Oliver asked.
"How about Dan's place?" Jennifer suggested, viciously picking her lilac nail vanish off.
"Yeah, sure." Dan said. The three successfully escaped from school, and walked on the pavement to Dan's house. Everything was a lot more busier compared to the morning. A conversation could easily be interrupted by the sound of cars zooming past, or the harsh wind blowing their hair back, and revealing ears. It was noisy and obnoxious.
After 5 minutes, they finally got to Dan's street. The street was filled with semi detached houses, stray cats and a gloomy atmosphere. Dan unlocked the door and walked inside. Oliver clapped and rubbed his hands together quickly. It wasn't warm inside Dan's house, but Dan didn't seem at all affected. Oliver and Jennifer on the other hand did. "Crap, I just remembered... I need to go somewhere." Jennifer said, slipping her red body warmer on and opening the door.
"Bye!" Jennifer shouted quickly.
"Bye-." The door shut. And she left, suspiciously.
"What was all that about?" Oliver asked.
"Don't know, but she's clearly hiding something." Dan replied.
The two didn't talk as much. They spent most the times on their phones. Oliver, probably texting, and Dan, Dan was watching YouTube. There were YouTubers Dan looked up to, inspired Dan, like Charlieissocoollike; a british vlogger. As he watched Tumblr Weirdness, he glanced over to the suggestion to find some guy roughly the same age as him, in a black and white thumbnail. And the YouTuber name was also 'AmazingPhil'. That was when Dan dropped his phone and realised it was Phil. Oliver looked over to the hysterical Dan, puzzled.
"You okay?".
"Y-yeah. Fine." Dan said, picking his phone up of the floor, clicking the option 'watch later' and sighing. Oliver, still looking, mouthed "okayyy..." and carried on texting. It was strange how excited Dan was to watch this video of a guy he had just met. How he would rather be next to this guy than with Oliver; his best friend. It was 3:55 PM, and even though it wasn't time, but he wanted Oliver to leave, so he could get ready at least.
Finally, Oliver did leave. From boredom and to return home for tea. Dan checked the time on his iPhone.
4:05 PM. 25 minutes left.
Dan dashed up his creaky stairs and through into his room. The wardrobe
was wooden and tiny and the door slided open. Dan had a few outfits to choose, but he couldn't make his mind up." Why am I getting fussed about what to wear?". Dan mumbled to himself. He then grabbed out a white t-shirt with cat heads and light pink scribbles all over, a pair of dark skinny jeans and a green hoodie.
Dan remembered Phil's address and even though Dan couldn't drive, and it turned out it was only a 5-10 minute walk. He opened the front door to be blown back by the wind slightly which caused him to shiver. Approximately 5 minutes, there he was. Standing outside the house of Phil's. The house looked newly painted white. Dan took a breath then walked to the door and knocked 3 times. Dan was nervously for a few seconds until the door slowly swung open and Phil was standing there.
Phil was wearing a teal t-shirt with a cartoon lion on the front. He a had pair navy skinnies jeans and a pair of odd socks. One striped black and white and the other neon green.
"Dan, come in." Phil smiled, gesturing the brunette inside. Dan stepped inside, wiping his shoes on doormat, and slipped them off. He followed Phil out the corridor and into the living room where they both sat down on the couch.
There was something about Phil that made Dan implode with happiness.
"You make YouTube videos?" Dan asked, killing the silence. Phil's cheeks turned to a faint pink. "Well, I'm not completely sure, but I think I would like to make videos." he grinned.
"You should go for it. I bet you'll get millions of subscribers in no time!" Dan said, "Maybe I can help out if you want.".
"Wow... No ones ever really encouraged me to become a YouTuber. I mentioned it to my mum, but she dismissed the idea, and my friends kinda laughed about it. Thank you. And I can at least give at a go though, right?" Phil suggested. Dan smiled softly and nodded.
Phil's ringtone played, which was the typical default iPhone one. He rooted in his pocket for his phone and gesturing to Dan he would be 1 minute. Phil got up off the couch and walked into another room to take the call. Being so nosey, Dan leaned closer and listened to Phil.
"Jessica... Hi.". Dan's heart felt like it practically plummeted. Probably his girlfriend, he presumed.
"Oh okay, yeah." Phil mumbled. The older boy walked back into the room, stuffing his white iPhone back into his pocket. The sweet, happy smiley Phil had vanished and was replaced with a slightly sad, anxious Phil. "That was my girlfriend, Jessica. She's coming over. Are you okay to stay or-?".
"I guess I can stay." Dan managed to say without breaking into tears. "This is what you get when you fall in love with straight guys." Dan thought to himself. He clutched his fists tightly and bitterly waited for Jessica to turn up. Why did he stay? Why didn't he go home instead of torturing himself by bottling all his emotions up and trying to be strong silently?
