19 - I FORGOT MY PEN

The encounter with Henry was never brought up again. And I still don't know what had transpired between them. But it doesn't mean that it's completely removed from my mind.

The next morning, Stephen acted completely normal. I tried to bring up the what happened yesterday but every time I do so, he would immediately change the subject. I wish he would trust me enough to confide in me. It hurts to know that he doesn't. Maybe he doesn't feel the same like I do. Maybe he doesn't love me.

So now here I am, sulking around in our bedroom.

"Penny for your thoughts?" Stephen asked, lying beside me and wrapping his arms around me.

"It's nothing." I said softly.

"It's not just nothing. You have been sulking all morning. And you haven't even smiled ever since you woke up. You know your smile makes my day."

That actually made me smile. That's so sweet.

He gave me a boyish grin when he saw my smile.

"There it is. I've been waiting for that all morning. Your smile sure is effective. I can feel my happiness meter going crazy." He said before kissing me lightly on the nose.

I giggled in response. How can this man change my mood with just a few words?

We stayed silent after that, wrapped in each other's arms. After a few moments, Stephen said quietly, "Is this about what happened with Henry and I?"

I think my silence is answer enough.

He sighed and rolled so that he was hovering above me, careful not to put too much pressure on my tummy. He tucked my hair behind my ears.

"Princess, what happened at the charity event is not something I would like to relive, or talk about for that matter. I hope you understand this. And just so you know, what he said is nothing of importance, so please put it out of your mind and let's forget it ever happened. Please?"

I sighed and reluctantly said, "Fine."

"How about this. After my book signing, we'll go out and have fun. What do you say?"

The sun immediately shone and the clouds that were hovering above me disappeared.

"Like a date?" I asked, hopefully.

Stephen chuckled and pinched my cheeks before saying, "Yes honey, like a date."

I swatted his hand away.

"You've got a deal."

Stephen got ready for his book signing at 2 in the afternoon and after 30 minutes, he was good and ready to go.

"You ready?" I asked while fixing the collar of his shirt.

He took a deep breath and replied, "Yup."

"You nervous?"

He gave me a sheepish smile and said, "Yeah. What if they don't like me? What if I took too much time signing one book and the others don't get to have their books signed? Wh-"

I shut him up by kissing the life out of him like how I wanted to ever since he came out of the shower.

I pulled away and said, "Babe, I know you'll do great. They'll love you. Just relax and be your awesome self. You'll have them wrapped around your little finger in no time."
