22 - BEN & JERRY'S
I woke up with the sunlight streaming through the curtains. The birds are chirping outside and it seems like a good day. Except it's not.
I turned to my left only to see crumpled sheets and no Stephen. I instantly felt my mood darken. This has been happening for a few days already. Me waking up alone. I know it may seem childish, but I want to wake up with Stephen beside me, damnit. I sighed.
I pushed the covers off my body and went to the bathroom to do my business. After that, I brushed my hair and put it into a bun. On my way downstairs, I passed the mirror and I can't help but smile at my 7 month old baby bump. Only 2 more months sunshine.
I continued waddling downstairs and headed straight for the library where I know Stephen will be.
A few weeks after his book tour, Stephen's publisher started nagging him for his third book, which is far from finished. And now all he does is write and write and write. He wakes up earlier than usual and goes straight into writing. I always complained about him no having time for me and he always tells me that this is only temporary until he finished his third book.
I opened the door and I was greeted with the familiar sight of him hunched over his laptop, his fingers flying across the key board. There's an empty cup beside him. He must have woken up really early.
"Hey." I said quietly while walking towards him. He looked up from his laptop and gave me a loopsided grin. He looked adorable with his glasses on and his hair sticking up in all directions.
"Morning princess. Did you sleep well?" He asked and stood up to meet me halfway to give me a kiss.
"No. You were out of bed when I woke up." I pouted.
He pecked my lips and replied, "You know I have to do this right? The faster I finish this, the faster I can spend time with you."
I sighed.
"Yeah, I know." I said looking down.
"Cheer up. Come on, let's eat breakfast. I'm sure sunshine is starving." He knelt so he was in front of my huge tummy and he lifted up my shirt to press kisses all over it. I felt the baby kick and I giggled.
"Sunshine says good morning." I said. He grinned in response.
"Let's go." He took my hands in his and led me to the kitchen where he made pancakes and sausages for breakfast.
We were halfway through our breakfast when suddenly his phone rang. He looked at the screen and sighed heavily.
"Who is it?" I asked, already knowing the answer. It's his stupid publisher.
"It's the publishing house. Excuse me, I've got to take this." He replied, already standing up and leaving the dining room.
I felt like crying with frustration. Can't I get one fucking moment of peace with my husband?
After a few minutes of waiting, Stephen came back with a scowl on his handsome face. He went to the table and grabbed his orange juice and drank it in one go.
"Babe, I'm sorry but I really need to finish my book as soon as possible. I'll just make it up to you okay?" He said before pressing a kiss to my temple and going back to the library leaving me alone to finish breakfast.
Great. Fucking great.
I feel so annoyed, angry, frustrated, ignored and hurt. And my hormones aren't exactly helping me either. I can feel my lips quivering and I took deep breaths to calm myself.
