Chapter 21 Underground Exploration.

Sara and Elena made a weird face when Shikarabe mentioned something that brings bad memories.

Rimuru, who knew exactly what happened, feigned ignorance.

Though Shikarabe explained how the boy managed to get the expensive relics, after being able to explain his guess.

Elena thought for a while before replying.

Elena: "Well, that sounds reasonable enough... You're not thinking of looking for another entrance to carry those relics, aren't you? Just so you know, I'm not going to help you."

Shikarabe: "Calm down. I'm just thinking that it might be the answer to that mystery. It's not like I said anything to offend you, no?"

Elena: "Don't worry, we fell for that rumour too."

Shikarabe: "I didn't think the rumour would bother you that much. Did you go through something unpleasant?"

Sara: "... Well, something unpleasant indeed happened but something really good happened as well. Result-wise, I'm glad we did that back then. Or at least that's what I feel. Although I can only say that now. What about you, Elena?"

Elena: "... Well. I do think that it was a good thing we went to the wasteland that day."

Sara: "Right? Moreover, it feels like our luck took a turn for the better ever since that day."

Elena: "You're right about that."

Seeing how Elena and Sara quickly cheered up, Shikarabe found that a bit weird. But he then turned to Rimuru and asked him.

Shirakabe: "... How about you Rimuru?"

Rimuru: "Well, despite all that happened. I guess I ended up well too."

Shikarabe: Dammit, so basically I'm the only one who ended up with a big loss, huh. Back then I had to supervise those young Hunters from Drankam. It was tough having to clean up after those fools... Man thinking about it is getting me irritated again. Rimuru, let's swap places. I'll vent this anger on those monsters."

As they continue their exploration, they start to encounter more Yarata Scorpions.

They were able to easily take out a swarm of scorpions without any problem. Although they were unscathed, their faces were grim.

Shikarabe: "The swarm is getting bigger and bigger. I wonder if their nest is somewhere nearby?"

Elena: "Let's head back first. We've piled up quite a lot of data about the underground city. Not to mention that we're already close to fulfilling the minimum mission time. So, now's a good time to head back anyway."

So, the whole team headed to the nearest safe place which was the defensive point 19.

Elena relied on the rough map that she made to navigate through the total darkness.

Noticing that they already changed their route 3 times. Rimuru calls Elena's attention.

Rimuru: "Elena..."

Hearing Rimuru's voice. The team decided to stop, but Rimuru didn't say anything.

Shikarabe: "Is something wrong?"

Elena: "... I don't know if the ceiling collapsed but the route back is blocked by rubble, you see."

Sara: "... But there's still another route that we can take, right?"

Elena: "Yeah, that's not a problem. It's just that..."

Elena then turns to Rimuru in which he finishes the sentence.
