Deku sat by Kacchan's bedside, watching him sleep. It had been a long and brutal battle, but they had come out victorious. As he watched Kacchan's chest rise and fall with each breath, he realized how close he had come to losing him.
He reached out and took Kacchan's hand in his, feeling the warmth of his skin. He didn't know how he could have gone on if he had lost him. He leaned his head down on the hospital bed, exhaustion finally catching up with him. He fell asleep with his hand still holding onto Kacchan's.
Hours later, Kacchan's eyes fluttered open. He turned his head to the side, surprised to find Deku sleeping by his side. He reached out and gently tapped his friend's shoulder.
Deku woke up with a start, his eyes bleary and tired. He looked at Kacchan and saw that he was awake. He smiled softly and took Kacchan's hand again, the one that he had been holding all night.
"Hey, Kacchan," he said softly. "How are you feeling?"
Kacchan didn't say anything for a moment, just looking at Deku. Then he slowly lifted his hand and placed it on Deku's head, ruffling his hair. He gave a small, almost imperceptible smile.
"I'm okay," he said, his voice rough from disuse.
Deku couldn't help but let out a small laugh, his eyes filling with tears. "I don't know what I'd do if I lost you, Kacchan," he said, his voice shaking.
Kacchan's eyes widened at the words, realizing how much his friend cared for him. He saw the tears in Deku's eyes and understood that he had to tell him how he felt.
"Deku," he said softly, "I don't want to lose you either. You mean too much to me."
Deku looked up at him, his eyes widening in surprise. Kacchan's words were like a balm to his soul, and he felt a warmth spread throughout his body.
"Kacchan, I have to tell you something," he said, his voice barely above a whisper.
Kacchan nodded, giving him permission to speak.
Deku took a deep breath, steeling himself. "I love you, Kacchan. I know it's probably too late, and it's probably stupid to say it now, but I do."
Kacchan looked at him for a long moment, his expression unreadable. Then he slowly lifted his hand and wiped the tears from Deku's eyes. He leaned in close, and before Deku knew what was happening, Kacchan's lips were on his.
It was a soft kiss, almost hesitant, but it was filled with emotion and tenderness. Deku felt tears spill down his cheeks, and he hugged Kacchan tightly, not wanting to let go.
They pulled away from each other, their foreheads resting against each other. They stayed like that for a long moment, just breathing in each other's presence.
"I love you too, Deku," Kacchan whispered, his voice barely above a whisper.
Deku hugged him tightly, tears streaming down his face. They sat there, together, in the moonlight, their love for each other filling the room with a warmth that couldn't be extinguished
