When morning finally came they rushed to Mabel's house before the medical team arrived and took her away, they needed some answers. Answers they knew the residents of that city wouldn't share with them.
The front door was unlocked as expected,Liam took in deep breaths as he stepped in first and looked around. Everything was still in place - weird but not weird, he expected to see some signs of struggle or at least something but everything was arranged and in place like it was yesterday when they came for a visit.
"Well,I guess maybe it was a natural death? Let's go to the library that's where they said she was found" Josh said as he walked towards the library door, he turned the handle and the door made a creaking sound as it opened and then the smell coupled with the gruesome scene they saw hit them.
"Oh my God! Oh my God, Oh my God" Cleo said as she turned around with her hand clasped to her mouth. She hadn't really seen a dead body, "Fuck, I think I'm going to be sick" Kelly said as she clutched her stomach and left the room.
Mabel's corpse laid bloodied on the floor, some of the blood had dried of course but the pool of blood under her wasn't dry. She had been severely battered and she was lying face down but the scary thing wasn't the corpse itself but the message written above it.
I'm coming for you
It was a threat, a cold hard threat. "Was it the demons?" Liam asked as he turned his eyes away from the body to some books. "Well obviously, Mabel knew a lot of people didn't want to help us, so she helped us and.. lost her life in the process" Charles said as tears welled up in his eyes.
"We.. we should go, we shouldn't be here any longer" Josh said as he pushed his friends away from the gruesome scene. He was right they shouldn't be there because there was nothing for them to do there.
When they had gone out they didn't go home instead they sat down at her front door and waited for the paramedics to arrive.
It was because of them Mabel was killed and now they had been informed by them that they were next but now they had to at least pay their last respects to Mabel, since she helped them.
After Mabel's body had been taken away and the friends had paid their last respects, they went home. "I still can't believe she's dead.. and it's our fault" Cleo said as she cried and fell to the floor.
"well... She is and regardless of whether it's our fault or not. We have to honor her memory by continuing to dig for the solution because just like Mabel. Many other people in this city have died we need to do it for them" Charles said as he hugged Cleo "and ourselves... So that we don't end up like that" Liam said as he squatted to Cleo's level and patted her head.
"I love you guys so much" Cleo said, "aww we love you too" Kelly said as she pulled Cleo off the floor and pecked her. "Now, I know I'm not usually the foodie in this friend group but I'm rather hungry and I think food solves everything" Josh said as he looked at his friends.
"Seriously? Food solves everything? No it doesn't" Kelly said as she looked at him in play annoyance, "yes it does. Think about it when you're sad food helps, angry food helps. Need to get your mind off things? I got you bro, try food" Josh said as he made his voice sound like a commercial on TV.
"Ugh you're such a dork, go get our food ready will ya?" Kelly said as she rolled her eyes and laughed a bit. "Alright madame" Josh said as he went to the kitchen.
