Oakley had missed Kayce the night before.

Since Tate had been staying with them, Kayce stayed with him at the foreman's cabin last night and Oakley stayed in her room up at the main house. She thought she'd be fine, that she wouldn't even realize he wasn't there...but she was wrong. She didn't sleep well, and finally getting to sleep around two in the morning made for a rough start to their ride earlier today.

Now she was pressed into Kayce, their legs intertwined and skin warm against one another's. Oakley fought how much she loved being naked with Kayce, feeling every inch of him next to her after he brought her into an immense high just a few minutes before. Her nose was tucked into his shoulder as she breathed him in, his chest rising and falling heavily under her. One of his hands traced down the curve of her hip, resting just below her bottom.

"You still with me?" Kayce's voice broke the silence. Oakley felt her lips break into a smile before she pulled her head from where it was hiding and looked up at him. His hair was messy from her fingers running through it and his eyes were bright as he looked down into hers.

"Barely," Oakley breathed out. Kayce reached up and pushed her hair back from her face, tucking one side behind her ear.

"You look like you're sixteen again," Kayce mumbled, his finger tracing across her cheek.

"Mmm," Oakley hummed, leaning down to press a kiss on Kayce's chest. Her lips moved across his skin, her lips tracing over towards the bottom of his neck. Kayce's hand moved her hair all to one side so it was out of their way. Her chest was against his while she looked back up at him, getting hit with an overwhelming feeling that went all the way down to her toes.

"Don't..." Kayce whispered, cupping her cheek.

"Don't what?" Oakley asked, tilting her head into his hand.

"Don't overthink this," Kayce smiled at her. "Just be here with me."

"It's hard to turn my brain off," Oakley blushed. "You know this."

"I do," Kayce nodded. "But your brain is one of my favorite things."

"It is?" Oakley laughed a little, not believing Kayce. "How is my brain one of your favorite things?"

"Because," Kayce leaned back more on his pillow. "It's kind, and thoughtful, and loving, and forgiving...it's stubborn but loyal."

"Mmm," Oakley hummed again. "Hard to find a response to that."

"Don't need one, ain't looking for one," Kayce shook his head. "It's just the truth."

They were both quiet for a while, just soaking in each other's presence. Kayce's hands roamed over Oakley's skin, they were rough but gentle, making her relax into Kayce even more. There was part of her that feared the morning because it would mean the next step in this saga and she didn't know exactly what that all meant. She thought she knew what she wanted, but all of this had moved so fast.

"I said stop thinkin'," Kayce slurred out.

Oakley smiled at him before pushing up on her elbows and kissing his lips lazily. Kayce's hand tangled in her hair as their kiss turned deeper, Oakley's soft moan escaping her lips. Quickly, Kayce turned them, bringing Oakley underneath his body, his other hand pulling one of her legs up, along his hip with her knee bent.

Oakley held the back of Kayce's head as her lips drank him in. Her tongue swiped across his lips, playing with his as her skin began to tingle all over again. Her lips only paused when she felt Kayce sink into her core. He waited, letting her adjust to him, his hips pressed against hers.
