Oakley looked at herself in the bathroom mirror. Her hair was wet from the hot shower she just got, her skin pink from scrubbing away the day. Kayce had given her a green long-sleeved shirt and a pair of boxers to sleep in and since she didn't have her shampoo, she smelled like Kayce from his soap. For the first time in a while, Oakley thought she looked like her younger self. Her bright green eyes seemed to come alive even though her exhaustion was seeping through her body quickly.
Turning off the light she walked into Kayce's bedroom to find the bed turned down, a glass of water by the nightstand, and a blanket thrown over the foot of the bed. Confused, Oakley made her way back out into the living room and found Kayce on the couch, propped up on two pillows with a blanket over his body. He was reading through what looked like an old diary or something, and the only light was coming from a lamp next to his head.
"What are you doing?" Oakley asked annoyed.
"I'm reading," Kayce looked over at her. "What's wrong?"
"I'm supposed to be on the couch," Oakley sighed.
"No," Kayce rolled his eyes. "Take my bed, don't make this a thing."
"You made it a thing," Oakley walked over until she was standing over him. "That's your bed, I'm your guest, let me take the couch."
"I'm not letting you sleep on this," Kayce argued. "It's uncomfortable and you're exhausted."
"Well if it's uncomfortable then you can't sleep on it either," Oakley reached down and grabbed the diary from Kayce. "Please go to your bed."
"Oaks..." Kayce smiled up at her. "It's okay, take the bed and have a good night's sleep."
"Kayce!"
"Goodnight," Kayce turned around on the couch and reached up to turn the light off. Suddenly Oakley was in the dark, the light from the bedroom creating a soft glow.
She reached down and pulled on Kayce's shoulder.
"Goodnight, Oakley." His tone was serious and Oakley gave up. Turning around she walked back and climbed into his bed.
She was immediately encased in Kayce's scent again. His bed was cozy and smelled like him when she sank her head into the pillow. Pulling the sheets and blanket up, Oakley felt her eyelids get heavy. A few minutes later she heard Kayce's voice from the other room.
"You okay?" He asked.
"I'd be better if you weren't on the couch," Oakley replied. She didn't hear anything else from him until she heard his footsteps. Kayce appeared in the doorway and looked over at her.
His eyes were dark in this light and it made Oakley's skin prickle in a good way. Slowly, she leaned up into a sitting position in bed and looked over at him. She also noticed he had one of his pillows in his hand.
"How brave do you feel right now?" He asked her.
"W-What?" Oakley said. Kayce took a few steps inside the room, stopping at the foot of the bed. He tossed the pillow to land beside the one Oakley had just had her head on.
"I won't try anything," He said softly. Oakley gave him a confused look but then Kayce lifted his knee up onto the bed and leaned his hands forward.
"Kayce..." Oakley's eye widened but he moved to where he didn't ever touch her. She watched Kayce settle back against his pillow, a few inches in between their bodies due to the size of the bed.
"Is this okay?" He asked as he looked up at her still sitting.
"I don't know," Oakley said softly.
"I can go back to the couch," Kayce didn't move though.
