Meg's POV:

I was bouncing my legs continuously and biting on the nail on my thumb because I was really anxious. We were at the hospital waiting for the doctor to tell us if my dad was going to be okay and I was trying my best to stay positive. I didn't go into detail how bad me and my dad went at it because I didn't want Tay to worry too much. She doesn't even know he threatened to put me in conversion therapy and that's part of the reason I ran away. I heard the messed up rumors about those places and panicked.

According to my mom, my dad had a heart attack at work. She said he was upset I left and felt bad for slapping me because it just reminded him of his abusive father. I mean I understand all that but I am heartbroken too that one of the few men I trust put his hands on me.

"Here u go" Tay said in a tiny voice and I gave her tight lipped smile and took the bottle of water from her hands.

"So, how is school Tay?" My mom asked trying to make conversation. I know she still felt a way about the whole girlfriend thing but she didn't overreact like my dad. Before I left out the door, she even told me when things cool down I should bring Tay over to officially introduce her as my girlfriend.

"It's going good Mrs. Sampson" she replied with a smile and my mom returned the gesture.

"Good to hear and you don't have to call me Mrs. Sampson Maggie is fine" my mom explained. Tay would never call her by her first name.

"I appreciate the offer Mrs. Sampson but I can't address you by your first name." She answered and my mom nodded understandably.

"How about mom?" My mom said and I was CHOKING on my water.

"Are you okay?" They both said in unison.

"Yeah I'm good. Mommmm" I complained and she had a look of realization and I just shook my head. Tay on the other hand was enjoying the whole ordeal and giggling beside me.

"Too much?" My mom asked and I nodded. At the same time the doctor came back with an emotional less expression. I didn't know what to expect coming out of his mouth and that just made my nerves worse.

"The Family of Joseph Sampson" he announces and we immediately shot up out of our seats to hear him.

"I'm his wife" and the doctor nodded in return acknowledging my mom.

"Ma'am your husband is in stable condition now. After running some test we discovered he had a heart attack due to high cholesterol so he will be placed on dietary plan to help improve his health." The doctor explained and my mom just nodded in response. Then they went over to the receptionist desk to talk more. My brother ran in through the hospital doors looking around before he spotted us. When he made his was way over to me and Tay, he immediately engulfed me in a hug.

"Is he doing okay?" He asked and I nodded but tears were flowing out of my eyes.

"Hey hey. This is not your fault." He assured me and engulfed me in another hug causing me to just keep crying in his arms. I could feel Tay hands soothingly stroking my back and I eventually calmed down and pulled away from the hug.

My mom was finished at the desk so she came over to tell us that we could go visit my dad now. We started walking towards the room and my hands started to sweat because of my nervousness. What if he yells at me again? And that's too much for him to do and he catches another heart attack? What if he doesn't want even see me? My anxious mind was crowded with these questions and it was bothering me. Then I felt Tay's soft hand's gently squeezing mines and I looked down at her to find her smiling reassuringly at me. I gave her a small smile in return and kissed her on her forehead before we entered the room.
