Tay's POV:
It was pretty tense in the room. All I could hear was everyone breathing and the shuffle of clothes against the leather furniture. The envelope I was holding was feeling heavier than usual in my sweaty palms. I wanted to just rip it open and get it over with, but I was too scared of the reality. I pulled in my bottom lip and softly bit down as a way to suppress my nerves.
"You think we should do it now?" I heard Tyler voice say from beside me. I was too consumed by my nerves to answer.
"Um yeah" Meg answered dryly and I finally make eye contact with her for the first time in awhile.
'It's gonna be okay' she mouthed to me and gave me a reassuring smile, which I returned. My one was less sincere though.
I look down at the white paper in my hand and slowly began to open it up. I inhaled a sharp breath seeing the words.
"I got in!" Tyler jumps in excitement from beside me and goes over to hug Meg.
"Tay you got in!" Meg excitedly exclaims walking over to me and picking me up, but the paper in my hand didn't allow me to react.
She noticed this and gently took the envelope from my hands. I wanted to be happy about getting into my dream university, but the minute my eyes made contact with 'I'm sorry to inform you' on Megs letter my heart fell.
Her whole demeanor changed... Her face held a disappointed and sad look and I didn't know what to do in that moment. She silently took a seat where I was before and I crouched down in front of her.
"Babe they don't deserve you." I try to console but that shit was not working.
Her face turned into an angry scowl as tears made their way down her beautiful face. I tried to reach up and wipe the, but she beat me to it by roughly brushing them away with the back of her hands.
"I have to go." Was all she said before grabbing her jacket and rushing out my house.
"Congratulations Tay!" Tyler told me trying to lighten the mood.
"Thank you" I whispered as he pulled me into a hug.
"I should be happy. right?" I questioned while we pulled apart and he smiled gently while nodding.
"She'll be okay. Just allow her to cool off for now." He reassured me and I nodded in return taking his word for it.
It was two days to prom and me and Meg's dress finally came. I didn't want to buy online considering this is our last prom, so my mom hooked us up with her designer friend for our dresses. She just called and sent me a picture of the dresses since I'm at school right now.
They were everything I ever imagined! I was so excited to tell Meg and was hoping maybe this brightens up her mood. She has been distant mentally lately. Meaning we barely talked. The most she did was give me a forced smile and Hi when I saw her at school.
