I dreaded coming back to this hellhole. I really did. I think I'd rather fight Alduin again. As a human, anyway. My stomach was doing cartwheels in my abdomen. I walk into the building and scan my card. Nothing. I continue to scan my card. Nothing. Finally, the door opens to that miserable bitch Deanna smiling.
"Didn't you get the letter? You're fired." She smiled.
"What? You can't fire me on medical leave!" I hollered at her.
"Dr. Stegis denied your medical leave so yeah, they can fire you." Deanna crossed her arms.
"You know what? Fuck all of you, you're getting sued." I told her. My dad is going to love hearing this.
"Oh, please do." Deanna chuckled. "And we'll show them that footage of you yelling at the dragon."
I wonder what I would have to do for Alduin to burn this place to the ground. I'd evacuate the patients and the other staff minus the ones I hate.
"Now, if you excuse me, my patient is calling. Go away before I call the police." She walks away. I throw my badge at the door and walk away. I walk back to my car and punch the steering wheel. I can feel the fingers in my hand breaking. I start to sob uncontrollably, feeling so enraged. How was I supposed to pay for anything now? How was I supposed to live?
I get myself together and drive back to our apartment. I get in and Serana is baking cookies with Lydia. Bryan is doing something on the computer and Alduin seems very fascinated by it.
"What happened?" Serana asked me.
"I got fired from the hospital." I sat down on the couch. I hope no one noticed my red nose or my puffy eyes.
"It's okay, that place was a hellhole anyway." Bryan spoke. "Now you can put your talents to use in a much better place."
"I know but I won't be able to do anything like pay rent or our bills for now." I sighed.
"Don't worry about it. We got it while you go off to find another job." Bryan pats my back.
"What did you do to them, Lia?" Alduin asked.
"I threw my badge at the door. I wish I could have burned the place down." I am not proud of myself for that one.
"I wish you had, not dovahkiin." Alduin gives me a smirk. "That would have made my day."
"I don't think that would have been wise on my part." I shake my head, feeling antsy.
"Probably not but it still would of been hilarious to see." Bryan sighed. "You want me to sic someone on Deanna? I know people in the hospital."
"Please don't. They'll know it was me." I turned on the TV. They were announcing that they had found a red dragon and a gray green one in the mountains but that they had flown away.
"Odahviing...Paarthurnax...." Alduin nearly jumped out of the seat.
"You know them?" I ask him.
"They're my brothers." Alduin was showing some emotion in his face for the first time that wasn't anger or annoyance.
"Well, I wonder what-" There was a knock on the door. Serana opened the door and there were two tall men at the door. I recognized one as Paarthy and the other had red hair. I'm guess Odahviing.
"I suppose you heard the news." Paarthy looked much older than Alduin and Odah, but Odah looked closer to my age than the other two.
"We did, actually. Alduin was worried about you." I responded, trying not to smirk.
"I thought I was a filthy traitor." Odahviing smiled at Alduin.
"You are." Alduin crossed his arms. "I just did not want joors to fell you."
"At this point, either I win or I don't." Odahviing's basic tongue was very accented. "It's nice to see you still care for me, you old dov."
Alduin rolled his eyes.
"Whatever. I suppose you've come to ask for the joors' aid." He spoke.
"Yes, actually. You are the only joor we can trust." Paarthy looks at us.
"I'm surprised you didn't ask our father for help." Alduin looked annoyed. That was more than him.
"We did. He guided us to you all." Paarthy crossed his arms. Alduin's eyes widened but he said nothing.
"Well, we do have two extra couches. Not very comfortable but they'll do for now." Lydia said, pointed to the couches.
"Thank you." Odahviing sat down on the couch. "This is nice."
"So you must be Lydia." Paarthurnax says to her. She nods. Everyone starts to introduce themselves. I try to find something to watch on Netflix. There's a bunch of trashy reality shows such as Argonian Island or Bretons Find Love in Prison. I end up watching a baking contest between elves and the Bretons.
