Hua Cheng contemplates what has been said and asks after a while of silence, "but why are you telling me this, couldn't you have just thrown me in any dimension and have me figure it out as I go on?"
The cloaked figure that was shrouded in silence with his eyes fixed on Hua Cheng with an unsettling intensity spoke up saying, "No, that wouldn't be fair, you were also good so giving you a heads up is the least we could do"
"Can I ask at least one last question?" Hua Cheng asked
"Proceed"
"I don't remember anything about my past life, I don't know who my lover is, they're name and will I remember my past life anytime soon?"
The cloaked figure remained silent, its expression unreadable. Hua Cheng wondered if he was being denied the chance to say goodbye to his past life, to bid farewell to the love of his life who he had no memory of.
"You're cheating us! That's a lot of questions in one sentence!" the childish figure beside him exclaimed, sounding annoyed.
Another figure spoke up, a mature voice that seemed to carry wisdom and understanding. "Mmm, we can't tell you their name, you'll just feel it if they're name feels familiar when the time comes, although we can tell you that they're male," the figure said, its tone gentle and reassuring.
"And as for the memories, that's all in the past," the figure continued. "Don't be hung up on the past and focus on the present, you have already undergone deep flashing, no amount of luck can bring your memories back, the only thing you can do during that time is to trust your instincts."
"Ok, so the memory flashing also applies to my lover?" Hua Cheng asked, his voice filled with a mixture of hope and fear.
"Yes," the figure replied, a hint of sadness in its voice.
"Will I still remember what you've said when I'm reborn?" Hua Cheng asked, his voice filled with uncertainty.
"Yes, why would we bother telling you if you were just gonna forget?" the childish figure retorted, a hint of sarcasm in its voice.
Hua Cheng closed his eyes, taking a deep breath. He knew that he was about to embark on a journey that would change his life forever. He wondered what his past life was like, what kind of person he had been, and who his lover was. He wondered if he would ever find out, and if he did, would he be able to remember?
As he looked out the window, Hua Cheng felt a sense of determination wash over him. He knew that he had to focus on the present and trust that everything would work out in the end, it doesn't matter if he doesn't remember.
"Ok, I'm ready for whatever fate awaits me," he said, his voice filled with resolve.
~present~
Hua Cheng watches as Jun Wu approaches, his eyes narrowing in a mixture of suspicion and apprehension. There's something about the driver that sets his nerves on edge, a feeling that he can't quite shake. It's as if he's being pulled in multiple directions at once, torn between his instincts and his desire to trust.
As for the aunty back home, he can't help but feel that she's harmless in comparison. But with Jun Wu, he's not so sure. He can't quite put his finger on it, but there's something about the driver that makes him feel like he's being watched, like there's something hidden beneath the surface that he can't quite see.
As Jun Wu opens the door for them, Hua Cheng takes a deep breath, trying to calm his racing thoughts. He knows that he needs to keep his guard up, to be prepared for anything.
As Jun Wu's car drove through the streets of modern-day, Hua Cheng couldn't help but wonder what the future held for him. He was a man out of time, caught in a web of fate and destiny, with no clear path ahead of him. But he knew one thing for sure - he was ready to face whatever challenges lay ahead
