Yeah... Friend...

The move went relatively smooth.

It didn't take long for the whole place to be made more homey than it was before. Santana had taken Johnny's old room but spent most of his time outside with the animals. None of the neighbors really seemed to question this strange man's sudden appearance. Or perhaps they were too intimidated to say anything.

Johnny had started seeing Rina by now. You and Gyro had dinner with them on occasion. It was incredibly awkward at first, but over time that feeling mellowed out a bit. However, that didn't stop you from being any more surprised when you heard Johnny and Rina were already discussing plans to get married. It personally felt a little quick of a decision to you, but whatever. Maybe that had been part of the fate Kiaria had altered.

Regardless, you were trying to maintain a decent enough friendship with the man. Johnny and Gyro were still good friends and you didn't want to get in the way of that.

Apart from all that was the situation with Dio's sons. They had ultimately decided to stay in their universe, much to the misfortune of the vampire. Someone else had wound up making the trek over, though: Anasui.

He'd literally listen to you no matter what, so you didn't have as much of an issue with him anymore. He was potential canon fodder. Someone expendable to do any dirty work if it came down to it. So, despite him having crammed himself into one of the labeled cardboard boxes to get over, you didn't make him return. You had to give him a few new orders, though, to keep him in check. Most of the time he was just in an abandoned little house in the corner of town.

At the moment, you were by yourself down at the docks. Marco had wanted something with fish for dinner, so you were seeing what you could find for sale. What you didn't expect was to run into someone you knew.

You had spotted him out of the corner of your eye, though he hadn't noticed you yet. Or, based on the way he was sniffing the air, perhaps he had. Diego's head suddenly snapped in your direction, his eyes locking with yours. A large smile spread across his face as he started making his way through the crowd toward you.

He stopped at your side, one hand moving to rest on your waist. "If it isn't my darling (Y/N). It's truly a pleasure to see you again. What a coincidence that we would bump into each other while I'm on my vacation."

"Is this man bothering you, Miss (L/N)?" Asked the fisherman, wondering if the Brando's sudden appearance was cause for alarm.

"No. It's fine. He's a..." You looked back at Diego and his cheeky grin. "A friend?" You thought it over again. "Yeah, I guess you'd say he's a friend."

"Mr. Mayor!" Two men, ones you quickly identified as Pierre and Nori, jogged from around the corner, finally catching up with the Brando. They were each carrying a suitcase. "You shouldn't run off like that. How are we supposed to guard you if we can't even find you?"

"Hm?" Diego glanced at them, not particularly bothered by their words. "It's all for appearances, though, isn't it? I don't actually need your protection." He turned back to you to explain. "Since the President mysteriously went missing, they've decided to up the security around more of their government officials. People are already spinning so many wild theories about what happened to him."

"Sure." That part made sense to you. You were more confused by his new occupation. "But since when were you a mayor?"

Diego took you by the hand, starting to lead you away from the harbor as he spoke. "Do you remember when I said that in exchange for helping the President with the corpse parts I'd ask him to give me Manhattan?" You nodded. "Well, it wound up with the agreement being to make me mayor instead. And since he did technically get all the corpse parts in the end, I managed to..." He searched for an appropriate word. "...convince his subordinates to keep up their end of the bargain for him. Though I likely wouldn't have needed their help. I'm already quite popular thanks to my placing in the race."
