Name-Drop

"Yasuho, are you suggesting that to ask about this hat, we go outside the hospital?" Asked the amnesiac.

Without a name to use for him just yet, you'd mentally be referring to him as Gappy, for now.

"You bet. I know you're not like that, but the police see you as a suspect for injuring Joshu." She took out her phone. "The policewoman hasn't left yet. You can't get out of the hospital. I'll take a picture of the hat. (Y/N) and I can go ask about it in the shop."

Gappy thought about it, but shook his head. "No. That sort of thing is personal. I want to go there in person and find out with my own eyes and ears. I'd like you to show me the way to the hat salesman." He rested a hand on his shoulder as a bubble started to raise from his birthmark. "It's 21 meters from this hospital room, to the elevator, to the lobby. Then it's a further 31 meters downward to the first floor and to the hospital entrance. It's 14 meters to the purified water. And the next down elevator door opens 25 seconds from now."

You were starting to get some vaguely familiar vibes from this fellow.

Yasuho, not aware of the bubble floating down the hall, started talking. "I can understand how frustrating it is that you can't get information in person, but right now there's nothing we can do."

"If you really want to get out of here that much, I could pull a few strings." You'd just have to give your contact in the SPW Foundation a heads up. It was currently the grandson of one of Gyro's brothers. His name was Antonio Zeppeli. He had asked for your help to get him a job there a few years back.

"Just who exactly are you...?" Whispered Yasuho under her breath. Based on some of the things you were casually saying, she couldn't help but feel that you weren't so ordinary of a person.

The bubble finally popped as it got close to the police officer. Small holes appeared on her skin and clothes, water seeping out.

"I'm so thirsty." The police woman stood up. "It feels like something has been taken from me. Water. I need some water." She walked to the water fountain.

"Okay. Let's go." Gappy grabbed you and Yasuho by the hand, leading the way to the elevator. The three of you just barely managed to fit in before the doors shut.

"Huh?" Yasuho just finished processing what happened. She had still been confused about whatever was going on with you. "How? Hey, just now, what did you do to the police woman?"

"Then... can you not do anything, Yasuho?" Gappy had been assuming that everyone must have some kind of special thing like he did. He knew you had some kind of power, after all. How else would you have summoned that muscley purple haired man to give you the blanket you had wrapped around him.

As the three of you snuck out of the hospital, Yasuho took the lead this time. You didn't complain. All things considered, she probably knew the layout of this Morioh better than you did. A lot had changed between each of your occasional visits.

She slowed down as the sign for the SBR hat shot came into view. "Do you recognize any of the town around here? Like a place you've been before?"

He spun around in a circle. "I don't know. I don't recognize anything."

A bell jingled as you walked through the door.

"Welcome..." Started the shop owner. His eyes widened slightly as he saw you. "Hey, did you know you look a lot like..." He glanced down to a few of the laminated newspaper pages he had. They were mostly pictures of the attire various racers had worn so customers could see how accurate the replicas were.

His expression turned to one of mild confusion. The belt you wore looked the exact same. Hell, you looked the exact same. Maybe your hair was styled a little different, but still. As crazy as it could be, he did wonder if by some absurd chance you were indeed the same person. He shook his head. It made no sense. But then again, in all his reading on the SBR Race, he knew that there had been a fair deal of unexplainable events that occurred. "How... can I help you?"
