Naruto looked back and forth between Sasuke and Hinata, his expression of amusement. He scratched his head, a mischievous grin spreading across his face. "So, uh, you gotta pass the blunt," he said, reaching out to take it from Hinata. She handed it over, her eyes slightly glazed from the effects of the smoke.
Hinata blinked, her red eyes focusing on Naruto as he took a hit. "Wait, what?" she said, her voice slightly slurred.
"It's not what it looks like-" Sasuke began to explain, but Naruto waved a hand dismissively, blowing out a puff of smoke.
"Relax, Sasuke," he said with a chuckle. "I already knew you guys were doing stuff." He took another hit, grinning at Hinata. "I'm not that stupid."
Hinata's cheeks flushed with embarrassment, and she looked down, feeling a mix of relief and awkwardness. She had expected Naruto to be more upset, but his nonchalant reaction caught her off guard. She took a deep breath, trying to gather her thoughts as the effects of the smoke clouded her mind.
Sasuke smirked, amused by Naruto's reaction. He leaned back against the couch, his eyes flicking between Naruto and Hinata. "Well, now that we've got that cleared up," he said, his voice laced with amusement. "What brings you here, dobe?"
Naruto shrugged, passing the blunt back to Hinata. "Just wanted to hang out with my favorite teme," he said with a grin. "Didn't expect to walk in on a smoking session, though." He glanced at Hinata, his expression softening. "But hey, as long as you guys are happy."
Hinata smiled, feeling a sense of relief. She took a hit from the blunt, feeling a sense of camaraderie with Naruto despite the awkward situation. "Thank you, Naruto," she said softly. "We didn't mean to keep this from you."
Naruto shrugged, taking another hit. "No worries," he said with a grin. "I may not understand what's going on between you two, but as long as you're happy, that's all that matters." He leaned back against the couch, joining them in their impromptu smoking session.
Sasuke nodded, a rare hint of gratitude in his eyes as he looked at Naruto. "Thanks, dobe," he said, using his old nickname for Naruto.
"I would be careful though because Sakura is starting to catch on," Naruto said, passing the blunt to Sasuke. Sasuke took a hit, his face remaining calm and collected, while Hinata looked like she was about to have a panic attack. Her eyes widened, and she fidgeted nervously with her fingers.
"Don't worry, Hinata! I got it under control!" Naruto said, trying to reassure her. He reached out to pat her shoulder, a concerned expression on his face. "You just gotta kiss Sai more. Maybe have sex with him once," he chuckled, trying to lighten the mood.
Sasuke's grip on the blunt tightened, and he glared at Naruto. "That's none of your business, dobe," he growled, his voice low and threatening. He didn't appreciate Naruto's teasing, especially when it came to Hinata and their relationship.
Naruto raised his hands in defense, his grin fading slightly. "Hey, hey, just trying to help!" he said, his tone apologetic. "I mean, the only reason Sakura's catching on is because it's awkward and there's not enough PDA," he continued, trying to justify his comment.
Hinata blushed furiously, feeling mortified by the conversation. She looked down, unable to meet anyone's gaze, her heart pounding in her chest. She was not used to discussing her personal life so openly, especially in such an intimate setting. She took a deep breath, trying to calm herself down, and took a small sip of water to distract herself.
Sasuke's expression softened as he noticed Hinata's discomfort. He reached out to touch her hand, giving it a reassuring squeeze. "Naruto, enough," he said firmly, his voice commanding. "Let's not discuss our personal lives any further."
Naruto nodded, realizing he had crossed a line. He took a deep breath and exhaled slowly, letting go of the tension in his shoulders. "You're right, sorry about that," he said sincerely. "I'll keep my big mouth shut."
Naruto took a puff from the blunt and passed it back to Sasuke, who took it without much enthusiasm. "So are you guys like dating? Or friends with benefits?" He rolled his eyes at Naruto's question, clearly annoyed by the intrusion.
"None of your business, dobe," Sasuke said tersely, his expression guarded.
Naruto just chuckled, blowing out a plume of smoke. "Got it, got it. Changing the subject then," he said, trying to diffuse the tension. "So, when are you getting your cat?"
Sasuke sighed, slightly more relaxed now that the topic had shifted away from his relationship with Hinata. "Tomorrow," he replied, taking another hit from the blunt.
Hinata's eyes lit up with excitement. "I'm so excited! I can't wait to meet your new cat," she said, eager for a distraction from the earlier conversation. "What did you name him?"
Sasuke's stoic expression softened as he thought about his new furry companion. "His name is Midnight," he replied, a faint smile tugging at the corner of his lips.
Naruto grinned, passing the blunt to Hinata. "Midnight, huh? That's a cool name," he said, genuinely interested. "I'm sure Mochi and Midnight will get along just fine."
Hinata nodded, taking a hit from the blunt and passing it back to Sasuke. "I hope so," she said, a warm feeling spreading in her chest at the thought of having another pet in their home.
As they continued to talk and share the blunt, the tension from earlier dissipated, and they enjoyed each other's company, feeling the familiar bond of friendship and camaraderie that had kept them together through thick and thin.
As the night wore on, Naruto decided to head home, bidding Sasuke and Hinata goodnight. Sasuke walked him to the door, and they exchanged a fist bump, a silent understanding passing between them.
"Take care, dobe," Sasuke said gruffly, his voice laced with genuine concern.
Naruto grinned, giving him a thumbs-up. "You too, teme," he said, before disappearing into the night.
Sasuke returned to the living room, sitting on the couch Hinata snuggled up against him, her head resting on his shoulder. He couldn't help but smile as he wrapped his arm around her, feeling a sense of contentment wash over him. Their relationship was anything but conventional, but it was theirs, and they were determined to make it work.
"Wanna come with? To get Midnight?" Sasuke asked, his voice soft as he looked down at Hinata.
Hinata's eyes lit up with excitement, and she smiled wide. "Really?" she asked, her heart fluttering with anticipation.
Sasuke's stoic facade cracked ever so slightly as Hinata kissed his cheek, and he found himself unable to resist the warmth and affection in her eyes. He leaned in, brushing his lips against hers for a brief moment before pulling away, a rare smile gracing his lips.
"We could call Mochi and Midnight boyfriend and girlfriend if they get along," Hinata said with a giggle, her eyes sparkling with excitement.
Sasuke smirked, his heart swelling with affection for the woman beside him. "Hmm, maybe," he replied, his fingers gently brushing against her cheek.
"Speaking of that," Sasuke said, his tone turning more serious.
