Coming Home

Jenna was sitting in bed enjoying her skin to skin time with Tobi while Jude was in the bathroom getting dressed for the day. It was now their third day in hospital, and all that Jude and Jenna wanted was to head home. And as if their prayers were answered, their midwife walked into the room. "Hey Jenna, how are you feeling?" She asked. "I'm feeling ok, Tobi is just having some skin to skin time with me, so yeah, im good. I just really want to go home." Jenna replied. "Well, your prayers have been answered because I came in here to tell you that you're both free to go home. You just need to sign some paperwork and hand it to the front desk, and then you're all good. I just wanted to tell you personally before I head home." The midwife smiled. "Oh my God, thank you so much, Jude is going to be so happy when I tell him. Also, I just want to say thank you so much for helping me and being my midwife." Jenna replied with a smile. "It's all good. It's my job, so I am happy to help. And I must say, hand on my heart, Tobi is one of the cutest babies that I have had the pleasure of helping to deliver." The midwife smiled. "Thank you. Do you plan on staying here to work?" Jenna asked. "As of now, yes, I have been here for a few years, so I don't see a reason to change. Why?" The midwife asked. "I just think I would like you to be my midwife when I have more kids." Jenna replied as she smiled and looked down at Tobi, who was starting to get fussy. "He's starting to get fussy, I better feed him." Jenna said quickly as she shifted him down. He quickly latched on and started to feed. "I would be hounered to be your midwife again. Just tell the hospital next time, and I will be right there." The midwife smiled. "Thank you so much." Jenna replied. "Oh, and before I go, you're not really supposed to do this, but take Tobi's hospital banket home. Most people do it because it's a nice momento." The midwife said before before she left. Jenna nodded and watched Tobi as he fed. A minute later, Jude came out of the bathroom, dressed in a clean pair of sweats and a hoodie. "Hey babe, is he having a feed?" Jude asked as he walked over and kissed her head. "Yeah. But I have some exciting news, we have been cleared to go home!" Jenna softly exclaimed. "Yes, finally, is the midwife still here, I want to say thank you." Jude asked. "Um, no, she just came in to tell us that we can go home just as her shift was ending. I thanked her though and told her that I want her to be my midwife in the future when we have more kids. And she was happy. She also said, hand on her heart that tobs her is one of the cutest babies she has helped deliver." Jenna smiled as she looked back down at Tobi. "Thanks, I want to give her a gift or something to say thanks because she has been so good. I might go out to the front desk and write her a check for them to give to her." Jude said. "Sounds great, then when you come back, can you pack up out stuff and bring it to the car as well as getting the carrier from the car." Jenna asked. Jude nodded and went out to the front desk, he wrote up a check for £10,000 for the midwife before heading back Into their room. "Do you mind leaving out my essentials sweatpants and hoodie, and leave out a onsie, hat, blanket and diaper please for Tobi, I'll get him dressed once I am done feeding him." Jenna asked Jude. He nodded and got out her clothes and tobi's clothes. He then started to pack their stuff up. "Are we allowed to take his hospital blanket?" Jude asked as he packed. "The midwife said to take it even though it's usually not allowed." Jenna said as she finished feeding Tobi. She then started to burp him as Jude zipped up one of their bags. He got the rest of their stuff packed before heading down to their car to put their stuff in. He then grabbed the baby carrier out and took it with him back upstairs. When Jude entered the room, he saw Jenna in her sweats, finishing dressing tobi. "Hows it all going?" Jude walked over to her side and looked at Tobi who was lying on the bed. "Good. We are all done now." Jenna said as she put his hat on. "We just need to sign some paperwork before we head home." Jenna said as she picked up Tobi and nodded toward the paperwork for Jude to get it. He brought it over to the table and sat down with Jenna to sign it. Eventually they were done. "Can you take that out and hand it to the front desk while I put Tobs in the carrier?" Jenna asked Jude. He nodded and made his way to the desk, handing them the paperwork and thanking them before going back to their room. When he arrived, he saw Tobi snuggled up tightly and strapped into his carrier. "Are you ready to go?" Jude asked as he hugged her. "Definitely." Jenna smiled and kissed Jude for a while before pulling away. He went over to the carrier. "Time to go home mate, start a new life with us." Jude smiled as he carefully picked up the carrier and wrapped his arm around Jenna. Jenna looked up at him with a tear in her eye. She let him walk on infront of her for a second to get a photo from behind of him carrying Tobi before returning to his side.

As they got to the car, Jude stopped jenna. "What's wrong." Jenna asked him. "I just want to say before we go any further with our new journey that I promise to always be by your side. I promise to protect the both of you and provide you both with the best possible life that I can. I love you both." Jude replied and kissed her head. Jenna hugged him tightly before opening the door so that Jude could place Tobi into the car. Once done, jenna got in the back next to Tobi while Jude was to drive home. He turned back to look at them, "You ready?" He asked, jenna nodded and looked down at her sleeping son. Jude backed out of the parking space and made his way out of the car park and towards home. As they drove home, Jenna starts to get worried about the speed they are driving. "Jude, your driving to fast, go slower." She urged. "Im 5km under the speed limit, it's fine, don't stress ok, we will get home safely." Jude reassured her. Jenna nodded as she tried to calm down.

They eventually arrived home. "Welcome home Tobi." Jude said as he parked and turned to look at Jenna and Tobi. "You take him in, I'll take the stuff in ok?" Jude then said to Jenna. She nodded and got out of the car, before taking Tobis carrier out and bringing him inside to their room. She took him out of the carrier and laid him in his cot while she went and got into her PJs. Jude brought their stuff in and left it in the haul before locking the house up and heading to their room. He saw Tobi in the cot and picked him up. "Wheres mummy gone tobs?" He softly asked the infant. "Right here." Jenna said as she walked over to Jude. "I just went to get into my PJs, do you want me to take him so you can get into yours?" Jenna asked. He nodded and went to get dressed. When he came out he saw Jenna sitting in bed humming a tune to Tobi who was falling asleep. "Do you want me to put him in his cot so we can head to sleep?" Jude whispered. Jenna nodded and gently handed him the baby. He slowly put him down and put his blanket over him before quietly getting into bed with Jenna. They gave eachother a soft kiss before drifting off to sleep.
