We pulled into what I assumed was a park. He parked the car and got out coming to my side. When he opened the door I shook my head.

"Nope". I shook my head and he laughed when I tried to get back inside of the car.

"Its safe, I promise". He said and grabbed my hand, pulling me back out.

I looked around the dark park and turned to him only to grab onto his hand. Not much has changed in the past year, I'm still afraid of the dark for the most part.

He threw his bag over the fence infront of him and started to climb up. "Colson"! I whispered.

He reached down for me and I shook my head. I'm not getting into any trouble.

"Luna it's fine." He laughed.

"I don't want the police showing up". I said and he shook his head again.

"They won't. C'mon". And he reached for me again.

Bad day for me to wear heels. I reached up and climbed up as he grabbed me to help. Once we got over the gate he turned to me.

"See, that wasn't so bad".

I rolled my eyes. He grabbed my hand again and walked us down the small pathway. When he stopped I ran into his back. He chuckled and knelt down to open his bag and pulled out a blanket and another smaller bag.

"A picnic, really"?

"I think of it as a catch up later meal in the park". He said and sat down

I looked around and pulled my sweater closer to me. Why was I here? What was this going to prove tomorrow morning? The love that I still have for Colson can't come up to the surface because there was a reason we broke up, I just don't want to go through that again.

"Please sit". He whispered.

I looked down at him and sighed, taking a seat across from him. He pulled out two boxes of Chinese take out and chop sticks, and with what I assumed was wine.

"I brought you here to talk to you. I want to explain everything". He said and when I went to speak he shook his head. "Please. I just want to talk".

I kept my mouth shut and nodded for him to continue.

"I finished rehab a few months ago and I haven't touched a pill since, not even a migraine pill. My rehab doctor told me that the pot I smoke does help with my anxiety and other issues im going though so they let me stay on that, unless it was medical."

Why was he telling me this now, why not a year and three months ago?

"I've gotten alot of support from Travis and The guys, Rook even stopped because of Sophie".

I nodded. Good for him. "What else"? I asked.

"The night I told Casey that you left, she hung up the phone, so the next morning I flew out to Cleveland and I heard it all from Emma that my own daughter didn't want to talk to me until I got clean. So, that night I checked in and stayed the whole program".

Poor Casey. She was one that i surely missed. She would be 11 now. I took a piece of chicken from my takeout and put it in my mouth as he continued.

"I sold my house, and moved up in another neighborhood so I could restart fresh, changed my number, clearly got a new look to me". He laughed as he pointed down to his mismatched fashion choice. "And I've missed you like crazy in the past few months".

I set my food down and laid down, my head almost touching his leg. "I can't believe I'm saying this out loud but I've missed you too." I whispered.

"I didn't mean for all of that shit to happen. I thought i had it under control until one day I didn't. The night I acted out Travis came over and stopped me from doing something stupid. I thought that if I left, you would be free". He whispered and laid down like i was, our faces inches apart.

"Dont you ever think that way again, do you understand me"? I spoke and looked at him. "Things just got toxic very fast and it happens to everyone. Right now, we're friends, then maybe down the line it can change". I whispered.

"You forgive me"? He asked.

Did I? He was man enough to tell me everything that happened on his end, he was changing for me and his daughter and i couldn't have asked for anything else.

I sat up and he followed my actions.

"I forgive you". I whispered.

I felt him staring at my lips but I knew that's what we didn't want. If we were going to make our friendship work then it can't start off with kissing, even though that's all on my mind right now. I still had a lot of love for him and that had never went away.

"Colson". I whispered.

He turned to look back at me and smiled.

"The day I left. I didn't feel like I was in control of anything. The day I packed up my stuff was the heartbreak I didn't want because you weren't there. I thought maybe you would try to stop me again and I would have gave in but part of me thanks you for not showing up, the time apart was what we needed". I said.

"You may not believe me when I say this but I do listen, I knew what you were thinking and I thought about going but Travis told me no. He said the best part was to let you go and find yourself and that's what I had to do".

"I did find myself, but deep down I wanted to find myself with you". I said.

He reached down and grabbed the white wine, giving me my glass.

"Here's to a fresh start, friend". He smirked.

"Friends". I smiled and we cheered our glasses.

From the distance I seen a flashlight and Colson stood up.

"Time to go". He laughed and grabbed my hand.

We ran back to the gate and he lifted me over quickly.

"Hey stop right there"! Someone yelled.

Colson ran us to his car and we quickly drove off. We both laughed and I turned to him while he drove off. I felt like we just met for the first time. That feeling all over again and I couldn't wait to see what was to come.
