Thalia’s POV

As I look down at Caleb’s face I begin to worry. It has been twenty minutes since Ruben left the room, and Caleb hasn’t moved an inch. Did I heal him incorrectly? I did the energy boosting spell Principal Sulettea taught me. Then again I don’t have the best memory. I hope I didn’t do the death allusion spell. What could be wrong?

‘Wake him,’ Cleo tells me for the fourteenth time. How can I wake him? I can only think of one way as I caress his face. Well here goes nothing.

I kiss Caleb’s lips softly and nothing happens. That just killed my self esteem. I press my lips harder on his and an arm wraps around me. I open my eyes in shock and see Caleb looking at me with a grin. He’s awake! I pull back against Caleb’s wishes and smile. I knew he would be fine. Just to be sure I ask Caleb how he’s feeling.

Caleb sits up with a smirk on his lips and says sexily, “Better. Kiss me again.” Dear ancestors I missed that deep voice. Before I have time to react Caleb smashes his lips on mine. As Caleb pulls me closer I moan and wrap my arms around his neck. I love Caleb so much. I want to kiss him forever but something is strange.

I pull back to say, “You just woke up. How do you have this much energy?” How long will my spell last?

Caleb leaves a trail of kisses on my neck while saying, “I’ve been up since you’re friend left. I wondered how long it would take you to realize you needed a dose of Caleb.” I giggle, but apparently Caleb isn’t finished.

He kisses my mark and I bite my lip to control a moan. I love Caleb, I really do, but he can’t do this to me right now. There’s a hole in Enrico’s wall, a broken window, and we have to leave. As I try to hold in another moan I feel my teeth since deeper into my lip. I’m going against my instincts and Cleo is howling like crazy. Stop it Caleb. Caleb sees me biting my lip and laughs.

“Are you really challenging me, mate?” he asks. I look into his eyes and can’t help but smile. He called me his mate. I shake my head no before resting my head on his chest. I’m still shuddering from the kisses to my mark.

“I missed you,” I say truthfully. Caleb’s can’t begin to imagine how much I missed him. Just the thought of it has me close to tears. I almost lost him.

Caleb kisses my hair before saying, “I never left you. Everything’s okay. We won’t think about that anymore.”

“But-,” I start to say before Caleb looks me in the eye. He rests his forehead on mine and I sigh. He’s right. I want to move forward with Caleb. I nod my head in agreement and Caleb helps me up.

“Ready to go home?” he asks. I smile at the thought of home with Caleb.

“Please and thank you,” I say before pecking his lips again. I grab Caleb’s hand before dragging him out of the room. I’ve missed his hand in mine. It’s so perfect for me. Caleb is laughing behind me and I can’t help but smile. I have my mate with me and that’s all I need. I sniff out Zeke, for some reason he’s sweating, and I walk to the house next door. This must be Valeria’s house.

“Really I have a mate! She will kill me and then laugh while jumping up and down on my grave,” Zeke says. What’s going on in here?

“Don’t worry. She’ll never have to know,” Valeria says.

I look back at Caleb and he’s as confused as I am. There’s nowhere to go but forward at this point. We walk toward the back porch and I see Zeke kneeling near a messy flower bed. Valeria is stretching out in a lawn chair while wearing a skimpy swimsuit and sipping lemonade. Are swimsuits the only thing she owns?
