(Thomas's pov)
It was a bit past midnight and the room was pitch black besides a dim candle on the side table that gave way to little light. I was lying awake on the bed, staring up at the ceiling. The air was cold and still.
I suddenly heard a commotion outside, coming from the long hallway just outside my doors. I heard voices, muffled by the wall, then a couple people running down the hall. One of my doors opened, revealing Malachi's smug face that held unknown secrets. I sat up and noticed him holding something in his hands but it was too dark to make out until he came closer and held up the black leather book that I had hid in my room. How had he managed to find it, how had he gotten his hands on it, it had been sealed with blood magic- unless... unless Circe or Mattheo had gotten it or possibly my father but I didn't think he knew anything about it.
I glared at him as he smirked at me "It was Circe" He answered, invading my weak mind. "Don't worry, she's ok" He sighed and I looked down "For now" I glared back up at him as he backed up towards the door he continued talking "you'll get to see her in a little bit, but until then-" He didn't finish his sentence, just gave a small nod and left the room, the door shut after him.
(Mattheo's pov)
The next morning Circe didn't show up to any of the meals so I asked Theodore and he told me about their talk last night "I haven't heard from her since, you want to check her room?"
"It can't hurt to check" I replied and apparated to her room. I called out to her but she wasn't there. I checked the balcony, then the astronomy tower, the library, and even the forest but I didn't see her anywhere. I tried to find her mind but she was either too far away or blocking me out. I apparated back to the house and looked everywhere, but I still couldn't find her.
(Circe's pov)
I opened my eyes to find myself sitting, tied against a wall in a circular room, in the middle of the room Malachi was standing with a smirk on his face and the black leather book in his hand. He looked up from the book and his eyes met mine "Oh good, you're finally up" He said in a cheery tone.
"Why are you doing this, what do you get out of this other than more blood on your hands?"
"Oh, you're going to regret asking that" His smile widened "At first I just wanted to get back at Thomas which, I'll admit was so childish of me, but now, it's because of two different reasons" He paused "One, for trying to find a way to kill me when you know you could never kill me, also the fact you broke Mattheo and Theodore out of the spell. And two, because your father offered me a task I couldn't turn down"
"What does he want?"
"Wouldn't you like to know" He replied with a smirk
"Yes, I actually would"
"First you tell me how you were seeing Thomas?"
"I don't know, it was like going into a dream"
"Hmm" He thought for a second before mumbling something under his breath "Your father thinks you have makings to be a great" He paused "Leader of sorts"
"Even if that is so, which would mean he's planning on dying soon, why would you help?"
"Currently you have too many attachments, you're too kind, there's a few things you need to learn to reach your full potential, and that includes embracing the siphon part, and of course darker magic. You have the makings but your just not there yet"
"Still, why would you help with that?" I tried not to sound scarred
"I might not support all of it, but this is a request from the Dark Lord we are talking about, I would never turn that down, and I also get to slightly torture you, so thats fun at lest"
